Educational Qualification

Passing Years Accepted

Candidates who have passed their Degree/Diploma in Engineering in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or May 2026 are eligible, and must be from Tamil Nadu.

Age Limit

Age limit will be followed strictly as per the Apprenticeship Rules notified by the Government of India. No separate age limit has been specified in this notification — refer to the general Apprenticeship Rules or the official PDF for exact age criteria.

Previous Training / Experience — Important Restriction

Not Eligible: Candidates who have already undergone, or are currently undergoing, NATS/NAPS apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act, 1973, and/or who have one year or more of work experience, are NOT eligible to apply for this apprenticeship.

As prescribed in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rule 1992, and any amendments made thereafter.

Reservation Details

Selection Process 2026

• Stage 1: The Board of Apprenticeship Training (Southern Region) prepares a shortlist from the online application data
• Stage 2: Shortlisting is done based on the percentage of marks obtained in the basic prescribed qualification, discipline-wise
• Stage 3: Shortlisted candidates are intimated through their registered Email ID
• Stage 4: Shortlisted candidates must appear for Certificate Verification at CMWSSB, Chennai

Important: No TA/DA will be paid for attending certificate verification, and no boarding or lodging expenses are admissible — candidates must bear their own travel and stay costs.

How to Apply Online for CMWSSB Apprentice Recruitment 2026

All applications go through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal — nats.education.gov.in. The steps differ slightly depending on whether you already have a NATS account.

Category ‘A’ — Already enrolled on the OLD portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in)

• Go to nats.education.gov.in → click Student → click Student Login → click Forgot Password
• Enter your registered email ID to get an activation link and reset your password
• Log in with your email ID and new password, and complete the migration/application form — a unique 12-digit Enrolment Number will be generated
• After migration, log in again, go to “Apply against advertised vacancies”, search “CHENNAI METROPOLITAN WATER SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE BOARD”, and click Apply

Category ‘B’ — Already enrolled on the NEW portal (www.nats.education.gov.in)

• Log in with your email ID and password
• Go to “Apply against advertised vacancies”, search “CHENNAI METROPOLITAN WATER SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE BOARD”, and click Apply

Category ‘C’ — First-time enrolment (not registered anywhere before)

• Go to nats.education.gov.in → click Student → click Student Register
• Complete the application form — a unique 12-digit Enrolment Number (ATN…) will be generated
• After enrolment, log in with your email ID and password, go to “Apply against advertised vacancies”, search “CHENNAI METROPOLITAN WATER SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE BOARD”, and click Apply

Important: Upload your B.E/B.Tech/Diploma Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Marksheet. Entering the percentage of marks/CGPAx10 in the NATS portal is compulsory — if this is not filled in, your candidature will not be considered at all.

• A valid personal email ID and active mobile number — all communication, including shortlisting intimation, is sent only through email

Note: Keep originals and self-attested photocopies ready in advance, since certificate verification happens at CMWSSB, Chennai, and no TA/DA is paid for attending it.
