What Is This Recruitment? — Simple Introduction

The Directorate General Assam Rifles has now opened a Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2026 to fill 354 Group-C posts. This is a skilled-trade recruitment — meaning most posts need you to already have an ITI certificate, Diploma, or specific trade skill, not just a plain 10th or 12th pass. Posts range from electricians and mechanics to a physiotherapist and an operation theatre technician, so the range of trades is wider than a typical rifleman-only recruitment.

Who Can Apply — Basic Eligibility Rules

• Must be a male Indian citizen
• Must hold a valid Domicile or Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) from your own State/UT
• Vacancies are filled on an all-India basis for each category — there is no state-wise quota, so candidates from any state can compete for the same posts
• You must meet the trade’s specific education, age, and physical requirement, as listed above

Very important rule: Once you submit your application, the State you selected cannot be changed at the time of Document Verification. If it doesn’t match, your candidature will be cancelled. So fill this field very carefully the first time.

How to Apply Online

• Go to the official website: www.assamrifles.gov.in
• Click on “ONLINE APPLICATION”
• Enter a working email ID and mobile number. Do not keep your mobile number on DND, since all updates come by SMS and email only
• Select your trade and category carefully after checking that you meet the eligibility
• Fill in every detail exactly as it appears in your Matriculation certificate and other original documents
• Upload the required documents in the correct format
• Pay the fee online, or through an SBI challan, and upload the receipt
• Check every field carefully — no change is allowed after final submission
• Submit the form and print a copy to carry to the rally

Documents to Keep Ready

• Matriculation / 10th certificate (for your name and date of birth)
• 10+2, ITI, Diploma, or Degree certificates, as needed for your trade
• Domicile / Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC)
• Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), in the correct format
• EWS Income & Asset Certificate for financial year 2025–26 (based on FY 2024–25 income)
• Height/chest relaxation certificate, if you belong to Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, or similar categories
• Heavy Motor Vehicle / Transport Vehicle driving licence (only needed for Recovery Vehicle Mechanic)

Selection Process — Step by Step

The full path is: RFID-based PST/PET → Documentation → Computer-Based Test (CBT) → Trade Skill Test → Document Verification → Detailed Medical Examination → Merit List

Computer-Based Test (CBT) Pattern

• Total marks: 100
• Minimum qualifying marks: 35% for General/EWS, and 33% for SC/ST/OBC
• The official notice does not give a section-wise topic breakdown, so keep checking assamrifles.gov.in for further syllabus details closer to the exam
• Candidates are shortlisted for the CBT only after clearing the PST, PET, and documentation

Trade Skill Test and What Comes After

• Based on CBT marks, candidates are shortlisted for the Trade Skill Test at about 4 times the number of vacancies (a 1:4 ratio) in each trade/category
• The Trade Skill Test has a Computer Test and a Specific Practical Skill Test — both are qualifying only, meaning no marks are added, you either pass or you don’t
• Candidates who pass the Trade Skill Test move to Document Verification and a Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
• Candidates found medically unfit can request a Review Medical Examination (RME)
• The final Merit List is prepared trade-wise and category-wise, based mainly on CBT marks, and candidates are called for training according to this list

Important: Just passing PST, PET, CBT, and the Trade Skill Test does not guarantee final selection. It only makes you eligible to be placed in the Merit List — actual selection still depends on your rank in that list, against the number of vacancies in your trade and category.

Salary and Pay (What to Expect)

The official notice says pay and allowances will follow the standard rules for Assam Rifles personnel, but does not give exact figures. Based on earlier Assam Rifles technical rallies, posts have generally been placed like this under the 7th Pay Commission matrix:

Service Conditions You Should Know

• Probation and Training: Selected candidates are on probation for 2 years
• If You Quit Early: If an enrolled candidate withdraws from the course or resigns before completing training, they must repay the full training cost or three months’ pay and allowances, whichever applies
• No Travel Allowance: No Travelling Allowance (TA) or Daily Allowance (DA) is paid for appearing in any stage of this recruitment. All travel, food, and lodging costs during the whole process must be paid by the candidate
• Voluntary Participation: By taking part in PET/PST, CBT, Trade Skill Test, and medical exams, candidates accept that they are doing so voluntarily. The Force is not responsible for any injury, illness, accident, or emergency during these events
• Legal Matters: Any dispute about this recruitment can only be handled by courts that have jurisdiction over the place where the selection process physically takes place — no other court can hear such a case

Simple Tips Before You Apply

• Pick your trade to match your real certificate, not just a trade you find interesting — many trades in this rally need a specific ITI/Diploma, and a mismatch gets caught at Document Verification, after you have already invested time and effort
• Double-check your State entry before submitting — this cannot be changed later, and a mismatch at verification means straightforward cancellation
• Start your fitness preparation early: the 5 km run in 24 minutes is a real physical benchmark. Don’t wait for the rally date (from 23 November 2026) to start training
• Since PST/PET happens before the CBT, being fit enough to clear it comes first — no amount of CBT preparation helps if you don’t clear the physical stage
• Save every receipt and document copy — the fee receipt, application printout, and notification copy must all be carried physically to the rally
• Budget for your own travel and stay since no TA/DA is paid for any stage of this process — plan this in advance, especially if your rally venue (Jorhat or Diphu) is far from home
