UTET 2026 Exam Pattern

The exam has objective-type (multiple-choice) questions only, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. Each paper is of 150 marks and runs for 2 hours 30 minutes.

Basic Eligibility for UTET (General Overview)

• For UTET-I (Primary, Classes I-V): Candidates generally need Senior Secondary (12th) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), or a 4-year B.El.Ed, or Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed, as per NCTE norms
• For UTET-II (Upper Primary, Classes VI-VIII): Candidates generally need Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 2-year D.El.Ed, or Graduation with B.Ed, or Senior Secondary with 4-year B.El.Ed/B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, as per NCTE norms
• There is no upper age limit fixed for appearing in UTET, as it is only a qualifying/eligibility exam and not a direct recruitment exam
