Design Your Degree (DYD) is a newer four-year undergraduate programme at the University of Kashmir. It was started in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The main idea is simple: instead of following one fixed list of subjects, the student gets freedom and flexibility to build the degree around their own interests and career goals. A mentor guides each student along the way.

The programme runs for 4 years (8 semesters), but a student can also exit earlier and still get something:

• After 1 year (2 semesters): Certificate
• After 2 years (4 semesters): Diploma
• After 3 years (6 semesters): BS degree, in the area where the most credits were earned
• After 4 years (8 semesters): BS (Hons/Research) degree
