How to Choose Your BHEL Unit – Simple Guide

A candidate can apply for only one unit. You cannot change it later, so think carefully. Use these simple points:

  • Trade first: Check that your trade has vacancies in the unit you want. For example, Electronics Mechanic is available only in two units.
  • Number of posts: A unit with more posts gives more chances. Tiruchirappalli (150) and Visakhapatnam (120) are the biggest.
  • Language: Knowing the local language of the state helps you at work. Regional language is desirable for the southern units.
  • Distance and family: You may have to live in the city of the unit for many years. Choose a place where you can settle comfortably.

Selection Process 2026

  • Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) – December 2026 (Tentative), same day for all units
  • Stage 2: Document Verification (DV) – Original certificates will be checked
  • Final Selection: Based on the selection rules in the detailed notification

Important Points

  • CBT pattern, marks, duration and negative marking are Not Specified – Refer Official Notification.
  • At Document Verification you must show your Class 10, ITI, NAC, age proof and category certificates in original.
  • Wrong or false information can lead to cancellation of your candidature.

  • Maths: Practise percentage, ratio, time and work, area and volume, and simple algebra.
  • Basic science: Revise Class 10 physics and chemistry basics like force, work, heat, electricity and materials.
  • Reasoning and GK: Solve number series, coding-decoding and read current affairs on industry and PSUs.
