Read This First – Six Important Points

  • This is apprenticeship training, not a permanent job. After training, HCL has no duty to give you a job.
  • You must complete TWO steps: (1) register and apply on the Government apprenticeship portal, and (2) submit the HCL online application. One step alone is not enough.
  • The HCL form opens on 5 November 2026 at 11:00 AM. Today is 4 November, so it is not open yet.
  • The stipend amount is not given. Do not trust any website that shows a fixed monthly figure.
  • Engineering diploma and B.E. holders are not eligible under the stated conditions.
  • Only one application per candidate. If you send more than one, only the first is counted.

Note: The notice has a small inconsistency about the ITI rule for Shotfirer / Blaster (Mines). Read the trade-wise qualification note below and the official PDF.

HCL Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026 in Simple Words

Hindustan Copper Limited is a government company that mines and produces copper. At its Malanjkhand Copper Project in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, it will train 171 apprentices in 19 trades, such as Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Computer Assistant, Instrument Mechanic and mining trades.

An apprentice learns on the job and gets a stipend. The training is from one to three years, depending on the trade. There is no written exam. Your Class 10 marks and ITI marks decide your rank in the merit list. This makes it important to apply in the trade that matches your ITI.

The application is a little different from normal jobs. You first create or update your profile on the Government apprenticeship portal and apply to HCL there. Then you go to the HCL website, fill the HCL form and enter the registration number from the portal. Both steps must be completed by 24 November 2026.

Stipend, Training and Is It a Permanent Job?

  • Stipend: As admissible under the apprenticeship rules. The notice does not give a monthly amount for any trade.
  • Training duration: Mate Mines 3 years, Shotfirer / Blaster 2 years, Driver-cum-Mechanic 1 year 3 months, and all other trades 1 year.
  • Training place: Malanjkhand Copper Project, Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh.
  • No right to a job: Finishing the training does not give a right to regular employment at HCL or MCP.
  • Purpose: The training is meant to give practical skills and improve employability.

Selection Process and Merit Calculation

  1. Step 1: Complete the apprenticeship portal registration and the HCL online application.
  2. Step 2: Merit list is made from Class 10 and ITI marks.
  3. Step 3: Shortlisted candidates list is published (scheduled for 8 December 2026).
  4. Step 4: Certificate verification.
  5. Step 5: Medical fitness check.
  6. Step 6: Apprenticeship contract formalities for selected candidates.

For ITI trades: Merit % = (Class 10 % x 0.70) + (ITI % x 0.30). So Class 10 carries 70% weight and ITI carries 30% weight. For trades without ITI, merit is 100% on Class 10 marks.

Class 10 % ITI % Class 10 x 0.70 ITI x 0.30 Merit %
80% 90% 56 27 83%
70% 80% 49 24 73%
90% 75% 63 22.5 85.5%
60% 95% 42 28.5 70.5%
75% 60% 52.5 18 70.5%
  • Tie-break: If two candidates have the same merit marks, the older candidate gets preference.
  • CGPA conversion: If Class 10 is in CGPA, multiply it by 9.5 to get the percentage. For example, 8.0 CGPA = 76%. A CGPA of 9.2 gives 87.4%, and 7.5 gives 71.25% (our calculations).
  • The example table shows our simple calculations of the formula. They are not cutoffs.

How to Apply Online – Two Mandatory Steps

Step 1 – Government apprenticeship portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in)

  1. Create or open your candidate profile.
  2. Fill your personal and contact details. Name, father’s name, mother’s name and date of birth must match your Class 10 and ITI records.
  3. Complete Aadhaar verification and eKYC.
  4. Update your bank account details.
  5. Enter your Class 10 and ITI details.
  6. Search for the establishment “Hindustan Copper Limited, Malanjkhand Copper Project”.
  7. Find the opportunity for your trade and apply.
  8. Save the confirmation and note the apprenticeship registration number.

Step 2 – HCL online application (hindustancopper.com, Careers section)

  1. Open Advertisement No. HCL/MCP/HR/Trade App./01/2026 and read the notice.
  2. Open the online application form when it is available (from 5 November 2026, 11:00 AM).
  3. Fill in your personal and educational details and select the trade that matches your qualification.
  4. Enter the apprenticeship registration number from Step 1.
  5. Upload your photograph and signature (JPG, less than 50 KB each).

  7. Check everything, submit by 24 November 2026, and download the application form and acknowledgement.

Note: Registration on the apprenticeship portal alone is not a valid application. You must also submit the HCL form.

  • You can prepare Step 1 (profile, Aadhaar eKYC, bank details) before the HCL form opens. Whether the HCL opportunity is visible on the portal before 5 November is not stated, so check on the portal. This is our general advice.

Documents and Upload Details

  • Class 10 marksheet and certificate
  • ITI marksheet and trade certificate (for trades that need ITI)
  • Aadhaar details for profile verification
  • Government apprenticeship registration number and profile copy
  • Confirmation of the applied opportunity
  • Category certificate, if you claim a benefit
  • Affidavit, if ITI was passed in 2025 or earlier
  • Other certificates asked at verification
Document Format Size
Photograph (recent, passport size, colour) JPG Less than 50 KB
Signature (English, black ink) JPG Less than 50 KB
Affidavit (where applicable) PDF Less than 1 MB

Contract, Medical Fitness and Other Conditions

  • After selection, the apprenticeship contract is generated on the Government portal and must be accepted by the candidate.
  • The notice says the contract is subject to approval by RDSDE Bhopal.
  • Check your registered email and the portal regularly for contract messages.
  • Candidates with an active apprenticeship contract elsewhere must meet the prescribed resignation and acceptance rules.
  • Engagement depends on being declared medically fit as per HCL requirements. No detailed medical chart is given.
  • Wrong information or fake certificates can lead to cancellation.

Which Trade Should You Choose?

  • Choose the trade of your own ITI. You cannot apply for a trade for which you do not have the prescribed qualification.
  • If your ITI trade is Electrician, remember that the Solar Technician (Electrician) trade is listed separately, with 4 seats.
  • Trades with more seats, such as Electrician (36) and COPA (20), may offer more places, but they can also have more applicants.
  • Check your category seats in the table. A trade with 0 seats in your category cannot be chosen for that benefit.
  • Mining trades (Mate Mines and Shotfirer / Blaster) have longer training. Read the notice for any special conditions of these trades.

After the Apprenticeship – General Guidance (Not From the Notice)

  • Keep your apprenticeship completion certificate safe. It is useful proof of practical training under the Apprentices Act.
  • Use it for private and public sector technician jobs, and for other apprenticeship-linked recruitments.
  • There is no promise of a job at HCL. Keep watching other PSU and government notices.
