Nagaland Police Constable Cut Off 2026 — What You Need to Know

Honest status (18 October 2026): There is no cut off for 2026 yet, because applications have not even opened. The PET and written test have not happened. So any website showing a ‘2026 cut off’ number is only guessing.

Also, in Nagaland Police recruitment there is no single fixed written cut off mark that we could find. Selection works by ranking inside each district and tribe quota. Here is how it worked in the previous cycle, which is the best guide we have.

How Shortlisting Worked in the Previous Recruitment (1,176 Posts)

Point What Happened (Source: Nagaland Police notices and news reports)
Posts 1,176 Constable (GD) posts, advertised 30 September 2025
Applicants 31,489 candidates completed the process, about 27 per post (district-wise allocation applied)
Step after PET Only candidates who qualified PST and PET were shortlisted for the written test, in the ratio 1:10 of posts in each district. More candidates could be added if there was a tie in PET marks
Written Test Held on 20 January 2026, 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
Interview Shortlisting Ratio 1:3, based on PET + written marks
Result Data District-wise marks score sheets were uploaded on the police websites on 6 June 2026
Unfilled Posts 80 posts remained vacant because candidates did not qualify in the physical efficiency tests, as discussed in the State Assembly
What this tells you: The first big filter is PET. Many candidates are removed there, and some posts even stayed empty. If you secure good PET marks, you are likely to be among the shortlisted for the written test. Whether the same 1:10 ratio is used in 2026 will be clear only from the new advertisement.

Qualifying Standards That Work Like a Cut Off

  • PST: You must meet the height, chest and medical standards, or you cannot go ahead
  • Running: Male above 12 min 30 sec for 3 km, or female above 12 min for 2 km, is disqualified (as reported)
  • Pull-ups: Male below 6 and female below 3 is disqualified (as reported)
  • Written test: No minimum qualifying mark was mentioned in the sources we checked
  • Interview: No separate cut off. The 10 marks are added to your total

Marks Calculator and Target Scores (Our Guidance, Not Official)

Your final score is: PET (45) + Written (40) + Interview (10) + NCC (up to 5) = out of 100. Because there is no published cut off, aim for a safe score in every part. The table below is our own planning advice to help you set targets.

Part Max Marks | Safe Target (Our Advice)
PET 45 | 35 or more (aim for top slab in running)
Written Test 40 | 28 or more (about 56 correct out of 80)
Interview 10 | 7 or more
Total (without NCC) 95 | 70 or more is a strong target
Why these targets? Competition was about 27 applicants per post last time. So aim high and do not just aim to qualify. These are planning targets, not official numbers.

Why a Cut Off Will Be Different in Each District

  • Posts are allotted district-wise and tribe-wise (tribal ratio). A candidate competes mostly with others in the same district and quota
  • Dimapur / Chumoukedima / Niuland posts are open to all Indigenous Naga Tribes, so competition there is wider
  • Female and male posts are counted separately
  • The number of candidates, difficulty of the PET and written paper all change the last selected score

12-Week Preparation Plan

Weeks Focus
Week 1–2 Read the full advertisement. Collect documents. Start daily running (3–4 days a week) and basic pull-up practice
Week 3–4 Complete Maths basics (percentage, ratio, average, time-work). Start Naga history and tribes notes
Week 5–6 General Science and Indian Polity. Increase running distance and speed. Start timed jumps practice
Week 7–8 Indian History, Geography, Sports, Nagaland GK. Daily 30 minutes of current affairs
Week 9–10 Reasoning practice daily. Take one full 80-question mock every 3 days
Week 11 Revise short notes. Practise PET exactly as per the official slabs with a stopwatch
Week 12 Light revision, rest, check documents and medical readiness

Physical Training Tips for PET

  • Running: Run on alternate days, add a little distance each week, and finish with one timed run at the full distance every 10 days. Include short fast runs for speed
  • Pull-ups: Practise 3–4 sets every other day. If you cannot do many, start with slow lowering reps and hanging holds
  • Jumps: Practise the high jump and long jump with a proper run-up and landing. Learn to clear in the first attempt, because first attempt gives 5 marks
  • Food and sleep: Eat balanced meals, drink enough water and sleep 7–8 hours
  • Avoid injury: Warm up before every session, wear good shoes and rest when you feel pain
  • Medical: Get a general health check before the rally if you can

Written Test Strategy

  • Every question carries only 0.5 marks, so do not waste time on one hard question
  • First finish Maths, Reasoning and Nagaland GK, where you can be sure of the answer
  • Practise with English question papers, because the paper is in English only
  • If there is negative marking in your advertisement, avoid blind guessing
  • Solve previous Nagaland Police constable papers and basic state-level police exam papers for practice
  • Read daily newspaper headlines and note important Nagaland news

Documents to Keep Ready Before 31 October

  • Scanned photograph and signature in the size mentioned on the portal
  • Educational certificate (Class 6 or Class 8 as applicable) and marksheet
  • Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate / tribe certificate as required in the advertisement
  • Proof of date of birth
  • NCC certificate, if you have one
  • Service certificate, if you are a government employee claiming age relaxation
  • Active mobile number and e-mail ID
  • Bank / UPI facility for fee payment, if a fee applies

Note: The exact list is in the official advertisement. The previous cycle had an application fee of ₹300, but please check the 2026 notice for the fee amount.

How to Check the Official Syllabus and Advertisement

  1. Open police.nagaland.gov.in
  2. Go to the Recruitment or Latest News section
  3. Open Constables (GD) Recruitment 2026
  4. Read the advertisement, rules, selection process and PET standards fully
  5. Apply only on the official recruitment portal (nagalandpolicerecruitment.in) when the window opens
  6. Save a copy of the PDF for your own use

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Studying only books and ignoring running and pull-ups
  • Starting PET training only after the date is announced
  • Believing fake ‘cut off’ numbers or ‘sure selection’ offers
  • Not checking the tribe and education conditions before applying
  • Waiting for the last day to apply — portals can become slow
  • Not keeping the application receipt or number safely

Beware of Fraud and Agents

Nagaland Police recruitment is done through an open rally and a written test. No one can give you a job for money. Do not pay any agent, and do not share your OTP or bank details. Use only the official police website and the official portal.

Quick Summary

For 1,137 Nagaland Police Constable (GD) posts, merit is out of 100: PET 45, written test 40, interview 10 and NCC up to 5. The written test has 80 MCQs, 40 marks and 2 hours, in English.
