CWC Syllabus 2026: Post-Wise Exam Pattern, Subjects & Marking Scheme

The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), a Navratna public sector company, has released its 2026 recruitment for 327 posts of Assistant Manager and Junior Executive.

This is a new cycle with new post names. The older CWC syllabus pages you may find online were written for the 2025 cycle (Management Trainee, Superintendent, Accountant and Junior Technical Assistant), so their exam pattern does not fit this year’s posts.

This guide gives you the 2026 post-wise exam pattern, the section-wise syllabus, the time you get for each question, the minimum marks you must score and a study plan. The exam date is not announced yet, and call letters are expected about 21 days before the exam, so the time to start is now.

CWC 2026 Exam Pattern — Post Wise

All four patterns below have 200 objective questions and one descriptive test of 2 questions (30 marks, 30 minutes). The full exam is 3 hours and 230 marks. Every test is separately timed, so you cannot carry spare time from one section to another.

Pattern 1 — Assistant Manager (General)

Section Questions Time
Reasoning and Computer Aptitude 60 50 Minutes
English Language 40 25 Minutes
Data Analysis and Interpretation, Quantitative Aptitude 60 50 Minutes

Marking and Minimum Marks

Rule Details
Negative Marking 1/4 of the question’s marks for every wrong answer
Unanswered Question No penalty
Minimum in Professional / Subject Knowledge 40% for UR, 35% for reserved categories
Minimum in Descriptive Test 40% for UR (12 out of 30), 35% for reserved categories (about 10.5 out of 30)

Two minimum-mark rules mean you cannot depend only on aptitude sections. A candidate who scores very high in Reasoning and Quant but fails the descriptive test or the professional section can still be out of the race, so these two parts need steady practice.

How Much Time Do You Get Per Question?

Section AM (General) AM (Tech/Fin/Engg) JE (General)
Reasoning and Computer 50 seconds 50 seconds 54 seconds
DI and Quantitative Aptitude 50 seconds 50 seconds 54 seconds
English Language 37.5 seconds 37.5 seconds 42 seconds
General Awareness 37.5 seconds 30 seconds 30 seconds
Professional Knowledge — 55 seconds —

General Awareness gives only 30 to 37 seconds per question, so you should either know the answer or move on at once. The aptitude sections give a little under a minute each, which is tight for Data Interpretation sets, so practise with a timer.

Share of Each Section in the Paper

Section AM (General) AM (Tech/Fin/Engg) JE (General) JE (Technical)
Reasoning and Computer 30% 15% 25% 20%
DI and Quant 30% 15% 25% 20%
English 20% 20% 25% 17.5%
General Awareness 20% 20% 25% 10%
Professional / Subject — 30% — 32.5%

Aptitude (Reasoning plus Quant) is 60% of the paper for Assistant Manager (General) and 50% for Junior Executive (General), so these two posts are decided by aptitude speed. For Assistant Manager (Technical, Finance, Engineering) and Junior Executive (Technical), your own subject is the single biggest block at 30% to 32.5% and also carries the minimum-mark rule.

  • Practice: write one answer every alternate day with a timer, and keep each answer to a clear opening, 3 main points and a short ending

8-Week Study Plan for CWC 2026

Weeks Focus
Week 1–2 Arithmetic basics (percentage, ratio, profit-loss, interest) and one DI set daily. English grammar rules and one reading passage daily
Week 3–4 Reasoning: puzzles and seating arrangement daily. Computer basics notes. Start professional subject for 90 minutes daily if your post has one
Week 5 Quant advanced topics (quadratic equations, probability, permutation) and mixed DI sets. Current affairs revision
Week 6 Sectional timed tests that match your post’s pattern. Start descriptive writing every alternate day
Week 7 Full 3-hour mock tests with 1/4 negative marking, two per week. Check minimum marks in professional and descriptive parts
Week 8 Weak topic repair, last 6 months of current affairs revision and formula revision. Keep the last 2 days for rest

The exam date is not out yet. If it is announced more than 8 weeks away, repeat Week 3 to Week 7 with higher difficulty instead of rushing.

Mistakes CWC Aspirants Make

  • Studying from the 2025 pattern and forgetting the descriptive test
  • Ignoring the minimum-mark rule in professional knowledge and the descriptive test
  • Choosing a post that does not match your qualification and getting the form rejected
  • Using one common timer for all sections, when each section is separately timed
  • Skipping computer aptitude because it looks easy, though it sits inside the Reasoning section
