TNPDCL Diploma Apprentice Recruitment 2026 in Simple Words

TNPDCL, the power distribution company of Tamil Nadu, will take 500 Diploma Apprentices for one year of practical training in 2026-27. The training is arranged with the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Southern Region (BOAT-SR), Chennai. Most places (455 out of 500) are for Electrical and Electronics Engineering diploma holders.

This is an apprenticeship, not a regular job. You learn on the job and get a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,900. TNPDCL does not have to give you a job after the training. But the practical experience is very useful for your career, and it helps you to learn how the power distribution system really works.

The selection is very simple. There is no written exam and no interview in the information we have. Candidates are shortlisted on the percentage of marks in their diploma. So your diploma percentage is the most important thing in this recruitment.

Stipend and Training Conditions

  • Stipend: Rs. 10,900 per month for the full year of training.
  • TNPDCL has no duty to offer a job after the apprenticeship. Completing it does not give a right to employment.
  • No travel allowance (TA / DA), boarding or lodging is paid for attending certificate verification.
  • Incomplete or wrong applications and late applications are rejected. No further talk is entertained.
  • Canvassing or pressure from any source will disqualify you.
  • BOAT (SR) has not given any person or group the right to arrange its work. Beware of touts and agents.

Selection Process – Step by Step

  1. Step 1 – Shortlisting: BOAT (SR) makes a shortlist from the online application data, using your percentage of marks in the diploma.
  2. Step 2 – Intimation: Shortlisted candidates are told by email, at the address registered on the NATS portal.
  3. Step 3 – Certificate verification: Shortlisted candidates attend certificate verification at the TNPDCL office.
  • Where to see the shortlist: Open nats.education.gov.in, go to the bottom of the home page, then Regional Events, then BOAT (Southern Region), then Apprenticeship News.
  • The notice asks students to check this page every day.

Why Your Diploma Percentage Matters So Much

Since there is no written exam, your percentage decides the shortlist. Percentage means total marks obtained divided by total maximum marks, multiplied by 100. For example, if your diploma total is 2,400 out of 3,000 marks, your percentage is 80%. Always use the percentage printed on your Diploma Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Mark Sheet.

  • Enter the percentage in the “% of marks” column on the NATS portal. This is compulsory.
  • If you leave it empty, your application will not be considered.
  • Do not guess or round up. Enter the figure from your certificate.
  • If your certificate shows CGPA only, check your college rules for the percentage conversion and match it with your marksheet.

Apprenticeship vs Regular Job – Know the Difference

Duration One year
Payment Fixed monthly stipend of Rs. 10,900
Selection Diploma percentage shortlist and certificate verification
Job after training Not guaranteed. TNPDCL has no obligation to offer one

Tips to Make Your Application Strong

  • Apply early. Do not wait for 28 November, when the portal can be slow.
  • Use an email id that you check every day. All messages come there.
  • Keep your NATS login details safe.
  • Check your name, date of birth and diploma details match your certificates.
  • Enter the diploma percentage carefully and correctly.
  • Keep the OBC (NCL) or community certificate ready in the right format before you apply.
  • Check the NATS portal every day from the second week of December for the shortlist.
  • Keep your original certificates ready for verification in the fourth week of December.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Forgetting to enter the “% of marks”. Such an application is not considered.
  • Applying without clicking Apply against TNPDCL, so the status is not “applied”.
  • Applying when you have already done an apprenticeship under NATS 2.0 / NAPS or PMIS.
  • Applying with B.E / B.Tech, which is not wanted for this selection.
  • Using a wrong or old community certificate format.
  • Not checking emails and the NATS Apprenticeship News page.
  • Paying money to touts or agents. The notification clearly warns about them.

After Apprenticeship – What Next? (General Guidance)

  • Keep your apprenticeship certificate safe. It shows that you have done practical training.
  • Use the experience to apply for private and government technician jobs and to build your resume.
  • Watch for other apprenticeship and job notices in Tamil Nadu. Many state organisations publish apprenticeship notices on the NATS portal.
  • Think about higher studies, such as lateral entry to B.E / B.Tech, depending on the rules of the college.
  • Remember that finishing the apprenticeship does not give any right to a TNPDCL job.

Source of Information

Places, stipend, eligibility, dates, selection steps, reservation, ward quota and the three application methods are taken from the FreeJobAlert report dated 29 October 2026, which is based on the official TNPDCL notification published on the NATS portal and marked “Officially Verified”. We could not open the official PDF directly. The Rs. 10,900 diploma stipend matches other Tamil Nadu 2026-27 apprenticeship notices, such as TNSTC. For clarifications, BOAT (SR) notices have used the email tncop@boat-srp.com in earlier years. Please check the exact email address in the official PDF, as the source flagged a small difference. The percentage example, tips and the “after apprenticeship” section are written for this page.
