NPTEL Result 2026 Out: July-December Scorecard and Certificate

NPTEL Result 2026 Out – July-December Semester Scorecard, September & October Exam Result Sheets and Certificate Criteria

NPTEL Result 2026 in Simple Words

NPTEL gives free online courses taught by teachers of the IITs and IISc. You can learn for free, but to get a certificate you must register, pay the exam fee and write a proctored exam at a centre. The exams for the July-December 2026 semester were held in September and October 2026.

NPTEL does not declare one result for all courses on a single day. Each course gets its result after its exam is evaluated. The first results came on 29 September 2026. More results followed on 16 October for the September exams, and course-wise results were reported on 26, 27 and 28 October for the October exams.

This means that if your course is not in the list yet, it does not mean that you have failed or that something is wrong. Your course result may simply not be published yet. This page explains how to check, how the score is worked out, who gets the certificate and what to do if you have a problem.

How the NPTEL Score and Certificate Are Worked Out

• Final score = 25% from assignments + 75% from the proctored exam.
• Assignment part: average of your best 8 assignments out of 12 (as stated in NPTEL course emails), converted to a score out of 25.
• Exam part: your exam score out of 100, converted to a score out of 75.
• To get the certificate you need at least 10 out of 25 in assignments AND at least 30 out of 75 in the exam. In simple words, 40% in both parts.
• You also need a total of at least 40 out of 100.
• If you miss any one of these conditions, you do not get the certificate, even if your total is above 40.

Examples to understand the rule (our calculations):

Note: Example 2 and 3 show why you can fail even with a total above 40. One part is below its minimum. The number of assignments counted (best 8 of 12) is from NPTEL course emails and may differ for some courses. Please check your own course page.

NPTEL Exam Fee and Certification – Quick Facts

• Learning is free. The certification exam fee is reported as Rs. 1,000 per exam.
• The certification exam is proctored, conducted at designated exam centres.
• The exam is optional. You need it only if you want the certificate.
• Results for the first set of exams usually come within a short time. For example, a Careers360 report on 2025 said results generally come within about two weeks after an exam.

Why Is My Course Result Not Showing?

• Your exam was on a later date, such as 23, 24 or 25 October, and the result is not yet published.
• NPTEL publishes results for different courses on different days.
• You may be looking in the September sheet while you wrote the exam in October, or the other way round.
• The course name on the sheet may be written in a slightly different way. Search using only a few words.
• Your registration email may be different from the email you used to log in.
• If more than a few weeks have passed, write to NPTEL support with your course name, exam date and registered email.

What to Do After You Get Your NPTEL Result

• Check that your name, photograph and score are correct.
• Add the certificate to your resume and online profile.
• If your college accepts NPTEL courses for credit, submit the certificate to your department as per their rules.
• If you did not get the certificate, check which part was below the minimum: assignment (10 out of 25) or exam (30 out of 75). Plan your next attempt for that part.
• Watch the NPTEL website for the next semester course list and exam registration dates.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Believing that the result is delayed because of a problem. NPTEL releases results course by course.
• Using a different email account to log in.
• Opening the wrong month sheet (September instead of October).
• Thinking that a total above 40 is enough. Each part has its own minimum.
• Not saving the e-certificate after it is released.
• Using fake websites or Telegram groups that promise “marks change” for money.
• Sharing your verification code with others.
