Important Dates 2026
- Advertisement Published: August 2026 (as per official notification)
- Last Date to Apply (Offline, by Post): Within 21 days from the date of publication of the advertisement — verify exact date on avnl.co.in
- Document Verification & Medical Examination: For provisionally selected candidates only, date to be intimated separately
Analytical Note: Because the closing date is defined relative to the publication date rather than a fixed calendar date, this notification is easy to miss if candidates rely only on secondary sources with varying dates. Sending the application well before the 21-day mark — rather than waiting till the last date — is especially important here, since a late-arriving postal application cannot be resubmitted online.

| Category | Age Relaxation |
| SC / ST Candidates | As per Government of India directives for the respective category |
| OBC Candidates | |
| EWS Candidates | |

- The trade considered for Ex-ITI candidates will be strictly as per the Schedule of the Apprentice Act, 1961 (and amendments).

| Grand Total (Non-ITI 83 + Ex-ITI 79) | 162 | ||||||||
Note: The number of vacancies notified is provisional. Ex-ITI candidates can apply against only one of the designated trades; Non-ITI candidates are allotted a trade on a merit-cum-choice basis after selection, based on vacancies available. If prescribed SC/ST training places cannot be filled by the respective category, they may be filled reciprocally (SC↔ST); if still unfilled, they may go to non-SC/non-ST candidates. The same principle applies to unfilled OBC seats.
Analytical Note: Machinist offers the highest vacancy count in both categories (27 each, 54 combined) — nearly one-third of all 162 posts — making it the single largest opportunity window in this batch. Ex-ITI Electronics (6) and Welder G&E (4) are the smallest, so competition per seat there is likely to be sharper despite Ex-ITI candidates already holding a relevant ITI qualification.
Selection Process — How Merit Is Calculated
- No written examination — selection is purely via Merit List, prepared separately for Non-ITI and Ex-ITI categories.
- Non-ITI Merit List: Based on overall percentage of marks in Madhyamik/Matriculation (Class X or equivalent), aggregate across all subjects, irrespective of Board. A single common merit list is prepared; trades are allotted on a merit-cum-choice basis after selection.
- Ex-ITI Merit List: Prepared trade-wise, based on the simple average of percentage marks in BOTH Matriculation and ITI (minimum 50% aggregate required in each). Matriculation percentage uses marks from all subjects; ITI percentage uses marks from the provisional/final certificate.
- Only provisionally selected candidates (based on the select list) are called for Document Verification and Medical Examination.
- Tie-breaker: Older candidate preferred first → if DOB is also same, candidate who passed Matriculation earlier (by year) is preferred → if that year is also same, alphabetical order of name decides.
- MTPF/AVNL reserves the right to revise the select list at any time in case of any oversight or error, and its decision will be final.
Stipend & Training Duration
| Category | Training Duration | Monthly Stipend |
| Non-ITI | 2 Years | ₹12,600/- (1st Year), ₹14,400/- (2nd Year) |
| Ex-ITI — 2-Year ITI Trades | 1 Year | ₹16,200/- per month |
| Ex-ITI — 1-Year ITI Trades | 1 Year | ₹14,400/- per month |
Note: No other allowances will be paid during the entire apprenticeship period (as per AVNL letter No. AVNL/CO/HR/12/T&D/2025-26 dated 30/04/2025). No Transport Allowance is admissible for Document Verification/Medical Examination.

Terms & Conditions of Apprenticeship
- Selected candidates must execute a Contract of Apprenticeship (by the guardian, if the candidate is a minor)
- During training, apprentices are entitled to medical treatment only from the Ordnance Factory Hospital, as per rules
- Training is subject to registration by the respective RDSDE (Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship) — if registration cannot happen for any reason, training will be terminated immediately
- On completing training, the apprentice must pass a proficiency test conducted by NCVT to receive a Certificate of Proficiency in the trade
- If the contract is terminated prematurely due to the apprentice’s failure to fulfil terms, the apprentice/surety must pay the training cost as determined by the Apprenticeship Adviser
- No obligation on MTPF to offer employment after training completion, and no obligation on the apprentice to accept an offer if made
Common Mistakes Applicants Should Avoid
- Relying on the printed “01/09/2025” date in the application form instead of verifying the actual 21-day window from the current advertisement’s publication date
- Submitting more than one application, or applying for more than one trade — only one application against one trade is accepted per candidate
- Attaching photocopies that are not attested by a Gazetted Officer or other Competent Authority — such applications are rejected at verification
- Mismatch between Name/Father’s Name/Date of Birth/marks across the application and Matriculation certificate — any deviation found during Document Verification leads to cancellation and debarment
- Ex-ITI candidates applying in a trade not matching their actual ITI qualification/trade schedule under the Apprentice Act
- Sending the application by ordinary post without tracking — since there’s no online acknowledgment, proof of timely dispatch matters if the application is delayed in transit
