  • Designs, plans and supervises irrigation, drainage and soil & water conservation structures for farmers and government schemes
  • Oversees farm mechanization initiatives — tractor/implement testing, promotion of farm machinery, and machinery bank operations
  • Plans and executes watershed management projects, minor/medium irrigation works, and command area development activities

  • Coordinates with the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment on implementation of central/state agri-engineering schemes
  • Posting can be at any office/field unit across Odisha, based on departmental requirement

OPSC AEE 2026 Preparation Strategy

  • Both papers matter equally — Paper-I (General Engineering) and Paper-II (Processing/Soil-Water Engineering) each carry 100 marks, so balanced preparation across both is essential
  • Farm Machinery & Power and Irrigation Engineering are high-weightage, application-heavy topics — practice numerical problems on drain spacing, pump selection, and machine performance analysis
  • Refer standard B.Tech Agricultural Engineering textbooks since the question standard is explicitly set at Bachelor’s Degree level
  • Stay current on Odisha/India agriculture statistics — land use pattern, irrigation potential, and farm power availability are specifically listed in the syllabus
  • Avoid guesswork — with 25% negative marking per wrong answer, attempt only questions you are reasonably confident about
  • Prepare Odia language proof early — since it’s a hard eligibility requirement, arrange the certificate well before the closing date to avoid last-minute rejection
  • Practice previous-pattern MCQs and take timed mock tests to build speed for the 2-hour-per-paper format
