What Is HMWSSB, and What Does a Manager Do There?

What is HMWSSB? It is the government body that supplies drinking water and manages sewerage (waste water) systems for the whole Hyderabad metropolitan area — including Greater Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and the surrounding fast-growing suburbs. It runs major projects like water pipelines from the Krishna and Godavari rivers, big city reservoirs, and sewage treatment plants. This board was set up way back in 1989 and remains one of the largest urban water utilities in India.

A Manager (Engineering) at HMWSSB is a technical, on-ground leadership role — planning, building, and maintaining Hyderabad’s water and sewerage infrastructure. Salary and Local Reservation

Selected Managers will get a pay scale of ₹54,220 to ₹1,33,630, plus other allowances usually given to Telangana Government posts of this level.

This post is limited to Multi Zone II, and local reservation applies to 95% of the notified posts. Candidates from other states can still apply, but they will not get Telangana’s local reservation benefits — they will only be able to compete for the unreserved seats.
