UP Home Guard Vacancy 2025 — Category-Wise

Category Vacancies
UR (General) 16,550
OBC 11,090
EWS 4,331
SC 8,645
ST 808
Total 41,424
Note: One news report shows 16,650 for UR, but 16,650 + 11,090 + 4,331 + 8,645 + 808 comes to 41,524, not 41,424. So we have used 16,550, which adds up correctly to 41,424. Please confirm in the official advertisement.

How Was the Final Merit Prepared? (As Reported)

  • The final district-wise merit was made by adding each candidate’s normalised written exam score and the marks for preferential qualification
  • If candidates have the same marks, the order is decided by tie-break rules, and the last rule mentioned in a report is the first letter of the candidate’s name as written in the High School certificate
  • The final selection is subject to the required medical examination and verification of educational qualification, preferential qualification, reservation certificate and character, wherever applicable
  • The final selection list is arranged district-wise
Note: These points are from news reports about the 3 October 2026 final result. Please read the official final result notice for the exact rules.

Selection Stages in Simple Words

Stage What Happened
1. Written Examination 25, 26 and 27 April 2026. About 25.32 lakh applications were reported
2. Document Verification and PST 1,07,221 candidates were shortlisted on the basis of the written exam. DV and PST were held from 13 July to 7 August 2026
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) 15 to 26 September 2026, as reported
4. Final Merit and Result 3 October 2026. 41,424 candidates reported as selected, including 8,290 women
5. Final Marks 24 October 2026. Marks sent to registered email IDs till 23 November 2026

What the Numbers Tell Us (Our Calculation)

  • About 25.32 lakh candidates applied for 41,424 posts. That is about 61 applicants for every post, or roughly 1 selection for every 61 applicants
  • 1,07,221 candidates were called for DV and PST. That is about 2.6 candidates for every post
  • So reaching DV was already a big step. Going from DV to the final list meant clearing PST, PET and the merit stage
  • The score card shows your marks. Marks alone do not show your position in the district-wise merit. Look at the selection list for the district you applied for

Why Should You Get Your Final Marks?

  • To see your own score and understand your performance
  • To keep a record in case you need to compare it with other lists or notices
  • To prepare for future police or Home Guard exams, if you were not selected
  • The link is available only for a limited time, so it is better to do it early

What Does ‘Normalised Written Score’ Mean? (Simple Example)

The written examination was held on three days in six shifts. One shift may have a slightly easier paper and another a slightly harder one. To keep things fair, the board uses a method called normalisation, which adjusts the marks so that candidates of different shifts can be compared on one common scale.

Simple example: if two candidates have the same number of correct answers, but one candidate gave the easier shift, the normalised marks may be slightly different. So your normalised score can be a little different from your raw score, and that is normal. Do not worry if the number in your email has decimal digits.

How Fast Did This Recruitment Move? (Our Calculation)

  • From the advertisement (18 November 2025) to the final result (3 October 2026) is about 319 days, which is a little more than 10 months
  • From the written exam (25 to 27 April 2026) to the final result is about 5 months
  • The score card link stays open for 30 days, from 24 October to 23 November 2026
  • So you have a full month, but the earlier you do it, the less stress you will have

How to Read Your Marks Email and Keep It Safe

  • Open the email as soon as it arrives. Check that your name and registration number are correct
  • Look for your marks. The notice says the board sends the final marks to the registered email ID
  • Take a screenshot and also forward or save the email to a folder
  • Do not delete the email. You may need it later for your own record
  • If the details in the email do not match yours, take a screenshot and contact the helpdesk shown on the portal at once
  • Remember the board’s warning: a technical error in the marks will not give anyone any right or benefit

If You Were Selected: What to Do Next

  • Keep checking the official UPPBPB website and the website of the Home Guards Department for notices
  • Keep all your original documents safe: educational certificates, category certificates, ID proof and photographs
  • Remember that the final selection is subject to the required medical examination and verification of qualification, reservation certificate and character, wherever applicable, as reported
  • Keep your mobile number and email ID active because notices may be sent there
  • Do not pay money to any agent for a joining letter or posting. Nobody can give you this for money

If You Were Not Selected: What to Do Next

  • Get your final marks and compare them with the marks of your district’s merit list, if you can find it
  • Check how many marks you were away from the final list. This helps you plan your next preparation
  • Look at other police, forest and Home Guard recruitments that you may be eligible for
  • Practise physical fitness and keep revising written exam topics, because these stages are common in many such recruitments
  • Do not lose hope. Many candidates are selected in a later attempt
Note: These are general suggestions to help candidates. They are not part of the board’s notice.

Smart Tips for Candidates

  • Do the login and email step today. Do not leave it for the last week
  • Save the email that contains your marks. Take a screenshot and keep it in a safe folder
  • Use only the official board website and the link given on it
  • Do not share your registration number or date of birth with unknown websites, apps or agents
  • If you are selected, keep watching the official website for district-level notices and next steps
  • If you are not selected, use your marks to plan your next preparation

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Thinking that the marks will be shown on the screen. They are sent by email
  • Using a different email ID and not checking the one registered in the application
  • Not checking the spam folder
  • Waiting till the last date of 23 November 2026
  • Believing that the score card is the selection list
  • Trusting agents who promise a job or a change of marks for money. Nobody can do this
