BSF HCM & ASI Steno Result 2026: Expected Cut-Off, PDF Link & Next Stage RESULT SOON

The Border Security Force (BSF) is expected to release the BSF HCM and ASI Steno Result 2026 for the Computer-Based Test conducted in September 2026. The recruitment covers 1,752 vacancies, including 1,496 Head Constable (Ministerial) posts and 256 Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) posts.

As of 20 October 2026, the result had not been officially declared, although a few job-portal reports expected it by the end of October. Once released, candidates will be able to check their roll numbers in the result PDF through the official recruitment website, rectt.bsf.gov.in.

The next stages are expected to include a typing test for HCM candidates, a stenography test for ASI Steno candidates, document verification and a medical examination. The expected cut-off marks circulating online are unofficial estimates; candidates should wait for BSF’s official result and cut-off notice.

Where Things Stand Right Now

The BSF Head Constable (Ministerial) and ASI (Steno) CBT is over, and the result has not come out yet. As of 20 October 2026 there is no official result notice on the BSF recruitment portal. Career Power’s result page says the result is expected by the end of October, but that is an estimate by a coaching website. BSF has not committed to any date, and in this recruitment BSF has often taken longer than candidates expected.

Search results are already full of pages titled “BSF Result 2026 Out” with download buttons. Do not trust them. The result will appear only on rectt.bsf.gov.in, and a genuine result never asks for payment, a login through another site, or an app download. If you see a link that does, close it.

This post covers what is confirmed, what is only an estimate, how the result will look when it arrives, how to read it, and what to do the same day. It also covers the skill test, because candidates who wait for the result before touching a keyboard lose weeks they cannot get back.

Please note: The cut-off marks in this post are estimates published by Career Power, not official figures. The official cut-off comes only with the result. Check every date and rule on rectt.bsf.gov.in.

Timeline of This Recruitment So Far

Event Date
Recruitment advertised, applications open 9 June 2024
PST / PET (physical tests) 17 March to 2 June 2025
PST / PET result 1 September 2025
CBT notice released 5 June 2026
CBT admit card released 18 to 19 August 2026
Computer Based Test 1 to 3 September 2026
CBT result Awaited, expected by end of October 2026
Skill Test, Document Verification, Medical To be announced
One point of confusion: Career Power’s page says the CBT was held on 2 and 3 September, while other sources report 1, 2 and 3 September. The difference does not change anything for the result, but it shows why you should rely on the BSF notice and not on any single website.

Vacancies in This Recruitment

Head Constable (Ministerial) 1,496 posts, pay Level-4 (₹25,500 to ₹81,100)
ASI (Steno) 256 posts, pay Level-5 (₹29,200 to ₹92,300)
Total 1,752 posts
These totals were published in the 2024 advertisement. Category-wise vacancies are in the official notification on rectt.bsf.gov.in.

How the BSF Result Will Be Released

BSF will publish the result as a PDF on its recruitment portal. The PDF lists the roll numbers of candidates who have qualified in the CBT. If your roll number is in the list, you move to the skill test. If it is not, you have not qualified at this stage. There is no separate merit list at the CBT stage, and the cut-off appears as the qualifying line behind that list.

The portal may also offer individual score details after the result, but that is not confirmed. Watch for a second notice about scorecards in the days after the result.

Several posts are decided in the same CBT: Head Constable (Ministerial) and ASI (Steno) in BSF, and the same posts for other forces in the same cycle. The result notice can therefore carry a long list, so use the search function in your PDF viewer.

Steps to Check BSF HCM & ASI Steno Result 2026

  • Open a browser and go to rectt.bsf.gov.in. Type the address yourself instead of clicking links from messages.
  • Look for the CBT result link for Head Constable (Ministerial) and ASI (Steno). The wording of the link may differ from earlier result notices, so read it before opening.
  • Open the PDF and press Ctrl+F on a computer, or use the search option in your phone’s PDF viewer.
  • Search with your roll number first. Search with your name only if the roll number is not found.
  • If you find your number, download the PDF and take a screenshot of your row.
  • Save the file in two places, for example your phone and your email.
Keep your roll number, date of birth and admit card handy. You will need the same details for the skill test admit card, which is released online only.

Qualifying Marks and Cut-Off: They Are Not the Same Thing

Qualifying marks are the floor. Cut-off is where the line actually falls once the number of vacancies and the number of high scorers are known. A candidate can score above the qualifying mark and still miss the cut-off, because BSF takes forward only as many candidates as the stage needs.
Category Minimum qualifying marks (out of 100)
General / EWS 35 marks
OBC / SC / ST 33 marks
These minimums are as reported by Career Power. Confirm them in the notice.

Expected Cut-Off Marks 2026 (Estimates, Not Official)

The ranges below are Career Power’s estimates. They depend on the difficulty of the paper, the normalisation of scores across the three days, and how many candidates BSF wants to call for the skill test.
Head Constable (Ministerial): Category Expected Cut-Off | Safe Score
General (UR) 79 to 85 | 83+
OBC 76 to 82 | 80+
EWS 75 to 81 | 78+
SC 69 to 75 | 73+
ST 64 to 70 | 68+
Ex-Servicemen 38 to 45 | 42+
ASI (Steno): Category Expected Cut-Off | Safe Score
General 80 to 86 | 84+
OBC 77 to 83 | 80+
EWS 76 to 82 | 79+
SC 70 to 76 | 73+
ST 62 to 68 | 65+
How to read these numbers sensibly:
  • Treat the range as a guide to the competition, not a promise. A candidate at the top of the range is comfortable. A candidate at the bottom should wait for the result before assuming anything.
  • The ASI (Steno) post has only 256 seats against 1,496 for HC (Ministerial), so competition per seat is tighter in ASI Steno, which fits its slightly higher General estimate.
  • Scores may be normalised because the CBT ran across several sessions. Your raw score and your normalised score can differ by a few marks in either direction.
  • The low Ex-Servicemen range is normal. Ex-servicemen are considered in their own category and are not measured against the General line.
  • If the marking scheme for your paper had negative marking, your score is right answers minus the deduction for wrong ones. Sources disagree on whether this CBT had negative marking, so read your own admit card instructions and the BSF notice before calculating.

What Happens After the Result

  • Skill Test: Head Constable (Ministerial) candidates take a computer typing test. ASI (Steno) candidates take a stenography test. The admit card for each stage is released online only.
  • Document Verification: Originals and photocopies are checked against your application.
  • Medical Examination: Qualified candidates go through a detailed medical examination.
  • Final result: Prepared after all stages. One source says the final merit uses normalised CBT scores, skill test and medical clearance. Another similar CAPF notice treats the skill test as qualifying only. The BSF notice will say which applies here.
The physical tests (PST and PET) were completed before the CBT in this cycle. You do not have to repeat them.

Skill Test: Start Practising Before the Result

BSF has not announced the skill test date, so there is no way to know how much time you will get after the result. Practise now.
  • Head Constable (Ministerial): English typing on a computer, with a minimum speed of 35 words per minute reported for this category. Practise on a standard keyboard, 15 to 20 minutes a day, and watch accuracy before speed.
  • ASI (Steno): Shorthand dictation at 80 words per minute is reported, followed by transcription on a computer. Practise with dictation audio, then transcribe cleanly. Mistakes decide the result in a steno test more than speed does.
  • Typing in Hindi is allowed in some forces’ notices for ASI (Steno), but check which language your admit card and notice specify.
  • The test is conducted on computers at the centre. Get used to a plain text editor, since formatting tools may not be available.

The speed and mistake limits above are reported norms from similar CAPF notices and secondary sources. The BSF notice for the skill test will give the final numbers.

Documents to Keep Ready for Document Verification

  • Printed copy of the admit card for the stage
  • Valid photo ID: Passport, Driving Licence, Aadhaar or PAN
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • Class 10 certificate for date of birth, and Class 12 marksheet and certificate
  • Category certificate in the prescribed format, if you applied under a reserved category
  • Ex-Servicemen discharge papers, if applicable
  • Stenography qualification or proof of skill for ASI (Steno), if mentioned in the notice
  • Originals and self-attested photocopies of everything above
  • Any other document named in the official notice
Fix any name or date-of-birth mismatch between documents now. Correcting a certificate takes weeks, and a mismatch found at verification can stop your candidature.

What to Do on the Day the Result Comes

  • Check the result on rectt.bsf.gov.in only.
  • If you qualified, begin skill test practice that evening, and keep your documents in one folder.
  • If you did not qualify, check your admit card and roll number again, then read the notice for any provision about grievances or revaluation. Do not pay anyone who promises to change a result.
  • Join only official BSF channels for updates. Groups that promise ‘sure selection’ or sell result access are not connected to BSF.
  • Keep your registered mobile number and email active. BSF can send notices there.

Common Mistakes Candidates Make at This Stage

  • Believing a fake ‘result out’ page and entering personal details.
  • Treating the estimated cut-off as official and giving up early or relaxing early.
  • Waiting for the result before starting typing or steno practice.
  • Ignoring the admit card instructions for the skill test, which are released online only.
  • Not carrying photocopies and originals together to verification.
  • Changing your phone number or email during the process.
