Selection Process — How Will You Be Selected?

There is no written exam and no interview mentioned. Selection is by a merit list of 100 marks:

Component Marks
Marks in your qualifying examination 90 marks
Age weightage 10 marks
Total 100 marks
  • Age weightage: After you complete 18 years, you get 0.5 mark for each completed year, up to a maximum of 10 marks. Age is counted as on the notification date.
  • Tie-break: If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate gets the higher rank.
  • Foreign medical graduates: Their marks are taken from the FMGE result as per the notification.

Simple example (only to help you understand, not real data): Suppose a candidate is 30 years old on the notification date. Years after 18 = 12, so age marks = 12 × 0.5 = 6 marks. If the candidate’s qualifying marks convert to 67.5 out of 90, the total merit = 67.5 + 6 = 73.5. The exact way of converting your marks is given in the full notification.

Stages of selection (as reported):

  1. Scrutiny of applications and documents
  2. Calculation of qualification marks and age marks
  3. Provisional merit list
  4. Objections are considered, and the selection list is prepared
  5. Reservation rules, local reservation and Presidential Order are applied
  6. Certificate verification of shortlisted candidates
  7. Final engagement, subject to eligibility and approval of the authority
