SSC JE Telecommunication City Slip 2026

  • The JE (Telecommunication) exam is on 30 November and 1 December 2026.
  • Its city slip has not been released yet. SSC says it will go live 8 to 10 days before the exam.
  • That means you can expect it around 20 to 22 November 2026 (our calculation).
  • Keep your login details safe and check ssc.gov.in regularly.

Scientific Assistant (SA) Subject Change – Simple Explanation

  • Some candidates applied for JE (Telecommunication) and were also eligible for JE (Electrical) and IMD Scientific Assistant (SA).
  • For those who selected SA, SSC has set EC/TC as the default subject.
  • These candidates can change to CS/IT or Physics when the city slip is live, up to 27 October 2026, 11:00 PM.
  • No change is allowed after that. You must appear in the subject shown on your admit card.

  • The maximum age limit for an own scribe follows SSC’s updated policy. Other scribe rules follow the exam notice.

SSC JE 2026 Exam Pattern – Paper-I and Paper-II

Paper-I (Screening) Questions | Marks
General Intelligence and Reasoning 50 | 50
General Awareness 50 | 50
General Engineering (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical) 100 | 100
Total 200 | 200
Duration 2 hours
Negative Marking 0.25 mark per wrong answer
Paper-II (Merit) Details (as reported by recruitment sites)
Marks 300 marks
Mode and Duration Computer based, 2 hours (most sites report 100 questions of 3 marks each)
Negative Marking 1 mark per wrong answer
Role in Selection Paper-II marks decide final merit and post allocation

In 2026, Paper-I is only qualifying. Sites report that final merit depends only on Paper-II marks. This is a change from the earlier year, when Paper-I marks were also counted. Please read the official notification for the exact rule. One website describes Paper-II as descriptive, while most sites say it is a CBT, so confirm this in the notice.

How to Calculate Your Paper-I Score

  • Formula: Score = Correct answers – (Wrong answers x 0.25)
  • Example 1: 150 correct and 20 wrong = 150 – 5 = 145 marks.
  • Example 2: 120 correct and 40 wrong = 120 – 10 = 110 marks.
  • Example 3: 100 correct and 60 wrong = 100 – 15 = 85 marks.
  • Four wrong answers cancel one correct answer.

SSC JE Selection Process – 4 Stages

  1. Paper-I (CBT): 2 to 6 November 2026. Screening stage.
  2. Paper-II (CBT): Tentatively December 2026. Marks decide merit.
  3. Document Verification: Original documents are checked.
  4. Medical Examination: Fitness for the post is checked.

Travel and Stay Checklist (Our Suggestion)

  • Note your exam city and date from the slip and book train or bus tickets now.
  • If your exam is in a different city, plan to reach one day before.
  • Book a stay close to the exam area. Exact centre address comes on the admit card, so a flexible booking helps.
  • Check local travel options and keep some cash.
  • Remember that the shift timing on the slip decides when you need to leave.
  • Keep your login details handy so you can download the admit card quickly on the way.

Last-Week Plan Before 2 November (Our Suggestion)

This plan is made by us to help you. It is not an official plan. Do not start big new topics now. Revise and practise.

Days What to Do
24-25 Oct Download the city slip. Book travel. Make a list of weak topics in General Engineering.
26-27 Oct Revise core engineering topics of your branch (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical). Solve 40-50 MCQs a day.
28 Oct Practise reasoning – series, coding-decoding, puzzles, blood relations.
29 Oct Revise General Awareness – static GK and current affairs.
30-31 Oct Download the admit card when it comes. Take a full mock of 200 questions in 2 hours.
1 Nov Light revision. Pack documents. Sleep early.
Exam Day Reach early. Attempt only questions you are sure about, because wrong answers cost 0.25 mark.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Thinking the city slip is the admit card.
  • Missing the 27 October deadline for SA subject change or scribe mapping.
  • Booking travel without checking the exact date and shift.
  • Ignoring errors in the slip until the last day.
  • Forgetting the original photo ID on exam day.
  • Trusting fake websites that offer “early admit card” links.

Stay Safe – Fake Link Alert

  • Download your slip and admit card only from ssc.gov.in.
  • Do not enter your password on links sent by WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS.
  • Nobody can help you pass for money. Do not pay anyone.
  • SSC’s official notice is final for all dates and rules.

Exam Day Timeline – Hour by Hour (Our Suggestion)

Your exact reporting time is printed on your admit card. Use this plan and match the clock times to your shift.

When What to Do
Night before Pack the printed admit card, original photo ID, a spare photocopy and a pen. Keep your route and centre address saved.
Morning Eat a light meal. Leave early. Avoid last-minute travel stress.
At the gate Show your admit card and ID. Follow the security staff. Keep your documents in your hand.
Before the test starts Sit at your computer. Read the on-screen instructions. Check the screen, mouse and keyboard. Tell the invigilator at once if something is wrong.
During the test Keep an eye on the timer. Move on if a question is taking too long.
Last 10 minutes Look at the questions you marked. Do not leave easy questions blank, but remember the negative marking.
After the test Wait for the official answer key. Do not trust rumours about cut-offs.

Paper-I Section Strategy – How to Use Your 2 Hours (Our Suggestion)

Section Questions | Suggested Time | Tip
General Engineering 100 | About 60 minutes | Start here. It has half of the marks. Do numerical questions carefully.
General Intelligence and Reasoning 50 | About 30 minutes | Solve the easy puzzles and series first.
General Awareness 50 | About 20 minutes | These are quick. Do not spend long on a question you do not know.
Review All | About 10 minutes | Check marked questions.
  • 200 questions in 120 minutes is about 36 seconds per question on average.
  • Paper-I is a screening stage, so your aim is to score well above the cut-off while keeping wrong answers low.
  • Keep accuracy high. Each 4 wrong answers cost you 1 mark.

What to Do Right After Downloading Your City Slip

  1. Check the details – name, registration number, city, date and shift.
  2. Book your travel and stay without delay.
  3. If you applied for Scientific Assistant, decide before 27 October 2026, 11:00 PM whether you want to change your subject.
  4. If you use an own scribe, finish the OTR mapping before 27 October 2026, 11:00 PM.
  5. Set a reminder to download your admit card about 30 October 2026, or 2-3 days before your own exam date.
  6. Keep your login details and photo ID in one safe place.
