Admission Certificates for Paper-II will be issued by the concerned Regional Offices of SSC “in due course”, so do not wait for them to begin your preparation.

PET/PST Result Summary — What Happened to 48,387 Candidates

Status Candidates Share of 48,387
Absent 26,949 55.7%
Temporary Unfit 4 0.01%
Withheld 136 0.3%
Not Qualified 10,622 21.95%
Qualified 10,676 22.1%
Total 48,387 100%

More than half of the Paper-I qualifiers (26,949, or about 56%) did not appear in the PET/PST at all. Among the 21,438 candidates who did appear, about 50% qualified (10,676) and about 50% failed (10,622). So if you went to the physical tests and cleared them, you were in a smaller and stronger group. With 3,073 vacancies and 10,676 qualified candidates, there are about 3.5 Paper-II qualifiers for every vacancy.

List-Wise Details — Female and Male Candidates

List-I: Female Candidates Qualified

Category EWS SC ST OBC UR Total
Candidates 102 73 42 185 116 518

The OBC figure includes 6 candidates who are OBC for Delhi Police and UR for CAPFs, and 3 who are OBC for Delhi Police and EWS for CAPFs. The total of 518 includes 4 temporary unfit female candidates (1 SC, 2 OBC and 1 EWS).

List-II: Male Candidates Qualified

Category EWS SC ST OBC UR Total ESM
Candidates 1,779 1,733 831 3,932 2,023 10,298 1,189

The OBC figure for male candidates includes 113 candidates who are OBC for Delhi Police and UR for CAPFs, and 44 who are OBC for Delhi Police and EWS for CAPFs. ESM means Ex-Servicemen.

Among the 10,298 male candidates, OBC has the biggest share (about 38%), followed by UR (20%), EWS (17%), SC (17%) and ST (8%). Female candidates are only about 5% of the two lists (518 out of 10,816). A small difference is worth noting: the two lists add up to 10,816, which is 140 more than the 10,676 qualified. That is exactly the 136 withheld and 4 temporary unfit candidates, which suggests that the list counts include them.

If Your Roll Number Is Not There

Possible Reason What It Means
Absent in PET/PST You did not appear on your date. 26,949 candidates are in this group
Not qualified You appeared but did not meet the PET or PST standards. 10,622 candidates are here
Withheld (List-III) Result kept on hold. 136 candidates are in this group. Check List-III
Temporary unfit 4 female candidates. Follow SSC’s website for further instructions
Wrong list or wrong number Search the other list, and check your roll number against your admit card

Withheld, Temporary Unfit and Sub-Judice Cases Explained

  • Withheld (136 candidates): The result of these candidates is withheld for various reasons, on the recommendation of the Nodal Force, which is BSF. Their roll numbers are given in List-III
  • Temporary Unfit (4 female candidates): Their result is kept as temporary unfit. They should keep checking the Commission’s website for instructions
  • Sub-judice (97 candidates): These candidates are provisionally allowed to appear in Paper-II because their matters are in various courts. This does not give them any right to final selection, and their candidature depends on the court’s final decision

Being allowed to sit in Paper-II provisionally is a protection and not a promise. If you are in any of these three groups, keep every document and acknowledgment safe and follow only the official SSC notices.

Paper-II Study Guide — 30 Days to 28 November

Paper-II in the SSC CPO scheme is an English Language and Comprehension paper. Since it counts in the final merit, even a small gain in marks can change your rank among 10,676 candidates.

Area What to Practise
Reading Comprehension 2 passages every day, with a timer. Learn to find the answer in the passage
Error Spotting and Sentence Improvement Subject-verb agreement, tenses, articles, prepositions
Fill in the Blanks and Cloze Test Vocabulary in context and common word pairs
Vocabulary Synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution, idioms and phrases
Sentence Arrangement Para jumbles and sentence rearrangement
Voice and Narration Active-passive and direct-indirect speech rules
Days Plan
Day 1–7 Revise grammar rules and take one sectional test every day
Day 8–14 Vocabulary: 30 new words a day with usage, idioms and one-word substitutions
Day 15–21 Comprehension and cloze practice with timed sets
Day 22–27 Full-length mock tests, then correct the mistakes by topic
Day 28–30 Light revision, rest and checking the Admission Certificate details

Since the physical tests are over, your main task now is language. A candidate who gives 45 minutes of reading and 90 minutes of practice every day for these 30 days can cover about 67 hours, which is enough to lift an English score by a good margin.

Marks, duration and negative marking of Paper-II are given in the official notice. Use it to decide how many questions to attempt.

A Sample Daily Timetable for the 30 Days

Time Slot Activity
Morning (45 minutes) Reading comprehension: 2 passages with a timer, then check the answers
Mid-day (30 minutes) Vocabulary: learn 30 words, idioms or one-word substitutions and revise yesterday’s list
Evening (60 minutes) Grammar, error spotting and a sectional test, or a full mock test on weekends
Night (15 minutes) Write down the mistakes of the day in a small notebook and read them again before sleeping

Keep one light day each week. If you also work or study, shift the slots to suit you, but keep the total near 2.5 hours a day.

Keep These Documents Ready

  • Screenshot and printout of the result PDF page with your roll number
  • Your PET/PST admit card or call letter, and the details of the force that conducted your test
  • Original photo ID and category certificate, if you claimed any
  • Original educational and age documents, as they will be needed at later stages
  • The Paper-II Admission Certificate as soon as it is issued by your Regional Office

A common problem in SSC exams is a small mismatch in names or category between documents. Compare your result PDF, your application and your certificates today, and ask the Regional Office about any difference well before the exam.

If You Did Not Qualify This Time

  • Check whether you were absent, not qualified or withheld, and read the notice if you are in the withheld list
  • Note the exact reason from the official notice, and avoid believing unofficial claims
  • Use the time to prepare for the next SSC CPO and for other Sub-Inspector and police exams, since fitness and aptitude carry over
  • Keep your physical training steady, because a physical test is part of the SSC CPO selection in every cycle

  • Take care of your eyesight and hearing, and keep your original medical records and prescriptions if any
  • Keep your height, weight and chest details in mind, and do not take any medicine or supplement without a doctor’s advice
  • Eat well and sleep well, because the DME checks your overall health

The medical standards are different for the Delhi Police and the CAPFs, and they are given in the official notification. Read them once now, so there is no surprise later.

Mistakes to Avoid After the PET/PST Result

  • Waiting for the Admission Certificate and delaying Paper-II preparation
