RRB NTPC UG CBT 2 Cut Off 2026 in Simple Words

Along with the CBT 2 result, the Railway Recruitment Boards have started publishing the cutoff marks. A cutoff is the lowest score that a candidate needed to be shortlisted for the next stage. If your score is equal to or above the cutoff for your RRB, your post and your category, you are shortlisted. If it is lower, you are not.

There is no single cutoff for all India. Every RRB publishes its own cutoff. Inside one RRB, the cutoff is different for each post and each category, such as UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, Ex-Servicemen and disability categories. So the most important rule is: compare your score only with your own RRB, your own post code and your own category.

The source lists figures for nine RRBs at the time of writing. The other RRBs are also publishing, so if your region is not in the tables below, please open your RRB website and download its cutoff PDF.

Note: The numbers on this page come from one source report. We could not find a second website that listed the same CBT 2 figures yet, and we could not open the RRB cutoff PDFs. Please match your cutoff with the official PDF of your RRB.

How to Read the Post Code (Example: 2NWR, 3SECR, 4WCR)

  • The number in front (1, 2, 3 or 4) is the post category number used in the RRB notice and result. Check your own RRB notice to know which number matches your post. This page does not guess it.
  • The letters show the railway unit or zone for which the post is filled.
  • Some RRBs have more than one railway unit, so they show more than one row. For example, Ajmer shows NWR and WCR, Bengaluru shows RWF and SWR, and Chennai shows ICF and SR.
  • Compare your score only with the row that matches your post code.

Quick Facts from the Table (Our Simple Calculations)

  • Among the 16 UR figures listed, the highest is 94.49 (RRB Ajmer, 1NWR) and the lowest is 79.13 (RRB Siliguri, 2NFR).
  • The average of these 16 UR figures is about 85.47.
  • Where both UR and SC figures are listed (12 rows), the UR cutoff is about 7.5 marks higher than the SC cutoff on average.
  • Cutoffs are not the same inside one RRB. For example, in Ajmer the UR figure ranges from 83.48 to 94.49 depending on the post code.
  • These numbers are only for understanding the trend. Your own shortlisting depends on your RRB, your post code and your category.

Note: Averages and gaps are calculated by us from the listed values only. They are not official numbers.

Where Do You Stand? – Simple Helper for UR Candidates

This helper shows which listed UR figures are at or below a given score. It is only for understanding. It does not tell your result, because your RRB and your post code matter.

85 Ajmer 2NWR (84.64); Ajmer 3NWR (83.48); Bengaluru 2SWR (80.58); Bilaspur 2SECR (83.19); Bilaspur 3SECR (82.61); Chennai 2SR (80.29); Patna 2ECR (83.48); Siliguri 2NFR (79.13)

Note: This helper uses only the figures listed in this report. Other RRBs and other post codes are not included.

Cutoff vs Minimum Qualifying Marks – Do Not Mix Them Up

Category Minimum Qualifying Percentage
UR 40%
EWS 40%
OBC-NCL 30%
SC 30%
ST 25%
  • The minimum qualifying percentage is the basic level that every candidate should reach to be considered.
  • The cutoff is the shortlisting line for a particular RRB, post and category. It is usually higher than the minimum, as the table above shows.
  • Reaching only the minimum percentage does not guarantee shortlisting for the typing test or the next stages.

Why Cutoffs Are Different and What Is Normalisation?

  • The number of vacancies is different for each RRB and post. More candidates competing for fewer posts means a higher cutoff.
  • Reservation rules create different cutoffs for UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS and other categories.
  • Exam papers in different shifts are not equally difficult, so RRBs use normalised marks. This makes the scores fair across shifts.
  • Because of this, the marks you see on your scorecard may be different from your raw marks.
  • Reports from earlier NTPC cycles showed cutoffs on different scales, for example some on 100 and some on 120. Do not compare this out-of-100 list directly with older numbers.

  • Shortlisting is provisional. Final selection depends on later stages, documents and medical fitness.

Your Action Plan – 31 October to 27 November 2026

When What to Do
31 October Download your RRB result PDF and cutoff PDF. Log in and save your scorecard.
1 to 5 November Check your post code and category. Compare your score with the cutoff. Read the next-stage notice.
6 to 20 November If shortlisted for a typist post, practise typing every day. Keep original documents ready.
Around 17 and 23 November Watch for the exam city intimation and then the e-call letter.
27 November Typing test (tentative). Carry the e-call letter and original photo ID.

If Your Score Is Below the Cutoff – What Now?

  • Check that you used the right post code and category. Many candidates compare with the wrong row.
  • Check the cutoffs of ESM or disability categories only if you belong to them.
  • Use your scorecard to see where you lost marks and plan your next attempt.
  • Watch for other railway notices and other 12th-level exams, such as SSC CHSL and state clerk exams.
  • Do not trust agents who promise a job for money. RRB does not take money for selection.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Comparing your score with the cutoff of another RRB.
  • Using the wrong post code or railway unit.
  • Using the UR cutoff when your category is different.
  • Confusing the cutoff with the minimum qualifying percentage.
  • Believing cutoff numbers on social media without checking the RRB PDF.
  • Ignoring typing practice for typist posts.
  • Not saving the scorecard and the cutoff PDF.
  • Mixing this recruitment (CEN 07/2025) with the newer undergraduate notification of 2026.
