The Border Security Force (BSF) has announced the Objection Management Portal for the Head Constable (Radio Operator) and Head Constable (Radio Mechanic) Computer Based Test (CBT) held on 2 November 2026. As per Notice-3, issued on 3 November 2026 by the Communication & IT Directorate, candidates can see their own responses with the answer key and raise objections from 4 November 2026 (10:00 AM) to 6 November 2026 (11:55 PM) on rectt.bsf.gov.in.
The window is only three days, and BSF has clearly warned that candidates who do not raise objections in this period will have no right to any future legal claim for re-evaluation. So this is not a page to read later. This guide gives you the dates, the steps, a simple way to calculate your score, a table that shows how many correct answers you need for the qualifying marks, and a checklist to decide whether a question is really worth objecting to.

What BSF Notice-3 Says — Key Points
- The Objection Management Portal is open to all candidates who appeared in the CBT on 2 November 2026
- Candidates can view their own answers (online responses) along with the answer key by logging in with registered credentials
- An objection about a question or its answer must be sent only through the online response link on the portal, with documentary evidence
- Subject experts will re-examine the objections before the answer key is finalised
- Objections sent by any other mode or channel will not be entertained in any circumstance
- Candidates who do not raise objections in the given period will have no right to any future legal claim for re-evaluation
- All updates will be published only on the BSF website
The notice does not mention any fee for an objection, and it does not say what marks will be given if a question is dropped or changed. Follow the notice on the portal for these points, and do not believe unofficial claims.
How to Check the Answer Key and Response Sheet
- Open the BSF recruitment portal rectt.bsf.gov.in between 4 and 6 November
- Click the link for HC (RO/RM) — Objection Management Portal or Answer Key
- Log in with your registered credentials, which are your user ID or registration number and password

- Select the question that you want to challenge
- Write your objection in a short, clear way: what you think the right answer is and why
- Upload documentary evidence, such as a textbook page or another authentic source

Do not wait for a friend’s message or a coaching group to tell you which question is wrong. You can only object through your own login.
BSF HC RO RM CBT Exam Pattern
| Subject | Questions | Marks | Share of Marks |
| Physics | 40 | 80 | 40% |
| Mathematics | 20 | 40 | 20% |
| Chemistry | 20 | 40 | 20% |
| English and General Knowledge | 20 | 40 | 20% |
| Total | 100 | 200 | 100% |
- Duration: 2 hours (about 72 seconds per question)
- Each question carries 2 marks
- Negative marking: 0.25 mark for each wrong answer (as reported)
- Level: Class 12 (10+2) standard
Physics alone carries 80 of the 200 marks (40%), which is as much as Mathematics and Chemistry put together. A single doubtful physics question is therefore worth more attention in your review than a doubtful English question, because the same disagreement can move your score by 2 marks either way.
How to Calculate Your Score
Score = (Correct answers × 2) − (Wrong answers × 0.25). Unattempted questions carry no marks and no penalty.
| Example | Correct | Wrong | Unattempted | Score (Out of 200) |
| Candidate A | 70 | 20 | 10 | 135.00 |
| Candidate B | 60 | 30 | 10 | 112.50 |
| Candidate C | 80 | 15 | 5 | 156.25 |
| Candidate D | 50 | 40 | 10 | 90.00 |
Subject-Wise Score Sheet to Fill In
| Subject | Correct | Wrong | Marks (Correct × 2 − Wrong × 0.25) |
| Physics (40 questions) | |||
| Mathematics (20 questions) | |||
| Chemistry (20 questions) | |||
| English and General Knowledge (20 questions) | |||
| Total |
Fill this table from your response sheet, and add up the four rows. You will also see which subject cost you the most marks.
Minimum Qualifying Marks (As Reported) — What It Means in Questions
| Category | Qualifying Percentage | Marks Out of 200 |
| UR / OBC / EWS | 38% | 76 |
| SC / ST | 33% | 66 |
Because every wrong answer takes away marks, the number of correct answers you need goes up when you have more wrong answers. This table is for the 76-mark line:
| Wrong Answers | Correct Answers Needed for 76 Marks |
| 0 | 38 |
| 8 | 39 |
| 16 | 40 |
| 24 | 41 |
| 40 | 43 |
A candidate with 40 wrong answers needs 5 more correct answers than a candidate with none to reach the same 76 marks. The minimum marks are only the entry line, because the shortlist is limited, so aim far above it, and treat the minimum as the lowest safe floor and not as the target.
Should You Raise an Objection? A Simple Decision Guide
| Situation | Suggested Action |
| Your answer matches a textbook line or an authentic source clearly, and the key is different | Raise an objection, with the evidence |
| Two options look correct because the question is badly worded | Raise an objection and explain the ambiguity |
| The question is wrong because of a printing or language problem in the question or options | Raise an objection with a short explanation |
| You are only 50% sure, with no source | Check first. If you cannot find evidence, an objection is not likely to help |
| You simply forgot the answer or made a calculation slip | Do not object. Correct your own score instead |
What Makes a Good Objection
- One question, one clear claim: say which option you believe is correct
- Give a source, such as the page of a Class 11 or 12 textbook, with the book name and edition
- For numerical questions, show the short working that leads to your answer
- Keep the language simple and polite, and avoid long stories
- Take a screenshot after submission, because it is your proof
Subject experts re-examine each valid objection, so a short, sourced objection is easier to check than a long, emotional one. Objecting to many questions without any evidence only wastes your limited time in the 3-day window.
How to Review Each Subject in Your Response Sheet
| Subject | What to Check When You Compare With the Key |
| Physics (40) | Units and signs, formula used, and whether two options are the same value in different units. Recalculate every doubtful numerical question |
| Mathematics (20) | Rework the full calculation. Check whether you made a small slip or whether the key is different from the correct method |
| Chemistry (20) | Check the textbook definition, the name of the compound and the reaction conditions. Facts here can be checked in one line of the book |
| English and General Knowledge (20) | For grammar, check the rule. For GK, check whether the fact has changed recently, because a dated fact may cause a dispute |
Mark each doubtful question with one of three labels: Sure my answer is right, Not sure or My mistake. Spend your time only on the first two labels, and correct your score for the third.
If your score is already far above the minimum, an objection will matter less to you. If it is close to the line (for example, a few marks above or below 76), one or two correct objections can matter a lot, so spend most of your effort there.
What Happens Next
- Expert review of all valid objections
- Final answer key prepared after the review
- CBT result declared on the BSF website, on the basis of the final key
- Phase 3 for shortlisted candidates (reportedly about six times the number of vacancies): document verification, a dictation and paragraph reading test for Radio Operator only, and a detailed medical examination
| Post | Final Merit (As Reported) |
| Head Constable (Radio Operator) | CBT (200 marks) + dictation test (50 marks). Candidates must also pass the paragraph reading test |
| Head Constable (Radio Mechanic) | CBT (200 marks) only |
| Post | Vacancies | Shortlist at 6 Times (Reported) |
| Head Constable (RO) | 910 | 5,460 |
| Head Constable (RM) | 211 | 1,266 |
| Total | 1,121 | 6,726 |
About 6,726 candidates would be called for Phase 3 if the six-times ratio is applied. For the Radio Operator post, the 50-mark dictation test can change ranks inside the shortlist, so start practising English dictation and reading passages clearly as soon as the CBT result is near.
Your 5-Day Plan: 3 to 7 November
| Date | What to Do |
| 3 November (today) | Keep your admit card, user ID and password ready. Revise nothing new. Rest well |
| 4 November | Portal opens at 10:00 AM. Log in, download the response sheet and calculate your score. Mark the questions you doubt |
| 5 November | Find sources for the doubtful questions and submit your objections with evidence |
| 6 November | Backup day. Check that all objections are submitted, and save screenshots before 11:55 PM |
| 7 November onwards | Watch rectt.bsf.gov.in for the final answer key, the result and Phase 3 schedule |
Mistakes to Avoid During the Objection Window
- Waiting for the last evening of 6 November
- Sending an objection through email, post or social media, which is not accepted
- Raising an objection without evidence
- Forgetting to save a screenshot after submitting
- Using a wrong login or sharing your credentials with other people
- Counting your score without the negative marking
- Believing unofficial websites about cut-offs, results or dates before the BSF notice
