RRC NR Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

There is no written exam and no interview in this recruitment. Selection is done in three steps.

  1. Merit List: A merit list is prepared from the average of the percentage of marks in Class 10 (Matriculation) and ITI. The merit list is expected in February 2027.
  2. Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted in the merit list are called for document verification. All original certificates are checked at this stage.
  3. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must pass the medical examination as per the Apprenticeship Rules before training starts.

There is no centralised merit list. The merit list is prepared separately for each unit, trade and community, equal to the number of slots available.

How Is the Merit List Calculated?

The merit is the simple average of the percentage of marks in Class 10 and the percentage of marks in ITI. Both carry equal weight.

Example: If a candidate has 70% marks in Class 10 and 80% marks in ITI, the merit will be (70 + 80) / 2 = 75%. Candidates with higher merit get a higher place in the list. If two candidates have the same merit, the older candidate is placed higher, as per the rules.

So your Class 10 marks matter as much as your ITI marks. Candidates with good marks in both have the best chance of selection.
