UKSSSC Inter Level Group C Recruitment 2026: 553 Posts Spread Across 59 Departments — Here’s Where They Actually Sit EXPIRED

UKSSSC put out the notification on 31 August 2026. Applications open 8 September and close 7 October — so as of today, the window is either already live or opening within a day or two depending on when you’re reading this. What’s still pending: the exact 15 November exam date is only tentative, and three departments in the vacancy list currently show zero posts, with numbers to be added once those departments actually report their requirement.

That last detail matters more than it sounds. This isn’t a recruitment for one job title. It’s 553 posts scattered across 59 separate post-and-department combinations, per Advertisement No. 80/उ0अ0से0च0आ0/2026 dated 31 August 2026, and treating it as a single unified vacancy pool is the fastest way to misjudge your own odds.

Why “553 Posts” Doesn’t Mean 553 Chances at the Same Job

Junior Assistant alone accounts for the bulk of the notification — but it’s posted across more than 30 different offices: the Election Department (33 posts), Women Empowerment & Child Development (32), Higher Education (26), all thirteen district magistrate offices individually, the NCC Department, the Transport Department, and so on. Each of these is its own line item with its own vacancy count, and in a few cases, its own extra eligibility condition layered on top of the common baseline.

Then there’s a handful of posts that aren’t Junior Assistant at all: Registration Clerk (55 posts, Stamp & Registration Department — actually the single largest count in the whole list), Assistant Mineral Supervisor (22, Geology & Mining), Survey Lekhpal (16, Dehradun), Computer Assistant (9, Secretariat), and smaller counts for Telephone Operator, Ahalmad & Cashier, Store Keeper, and Grihamata.

Three departments — State Tax, Rural Construction, and the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme — are listed in the notification with zero vacancies for now, flagged explicitly as “to be notified” once those departments send their requisition. If you were specifically hoping to apply under one of these three, there’s genuinely nothing to apply for yet; that’s not a gap in reporting, it’s what the notification itself states.

Pay levels vary by post too — most sit at Level-03 (Rs. 21,700–69,100), but Registration Clerk-type Level-03 posts, the Level-02 Survey Lekhpal and Advocate General’s office posts (Rs. 19,900–63,200), the Level-04 Computer Assistant roles (Rs. 25,500–81,100), and the single Level-05 Telephone Operator post at Raj Bhavan (Rs. 29,200–92,300) are not interchangeable in pay, even though several share the “Group C” label.

Eligibility — One Baseline, Several Exceptions

The floor for almost every post here is Intermediate (Class 12) pass plus a minimum Hindi typing speed of 4000 Key Depressions Per Hour. If you haven’t dealt with KDPH before — it’s not the same metric as words-per-minute, and boards outside Uttarakhand rarely use it, so don’t try to eyeball-convert your WPM score and assume it clears the bar. Confirm the actual KDPH requirement is something your current typing speed genuinely satisfies before applying.

A few posts stack extra conditions on top of that baseline:

  • Computer Assistant / Junior Assistant-cum-Computer Operator / Computer Operator — MS Office knowledge required; Computer Operator specifically needs a minimum 6-month computer course.
  • Pravar Sahayak/Senior Assistant (BRIDCUL) — this one’s a different animal entirely: 25 WPM Hindi, 30 WPM English typing, MS Office, plus a mandatory 5 years’ prior experience in a government/semi-government/PSU/reputed company, with at least 3 of those years in the grade immediately below this post.
  • Junior Assistant, Transport Department — must additionally be registered with a Uttarakhand employment exchange.
  • Telephone Operator, Raj Bhavan — EPBX operating experience preferred, though not stated as strictly mandatory.
  • Junior Assistant, Judicial & Legal Academy, and Store Keeper — a one-year computer operation diploma on top of the base qualification.

Since the qualification wording genuinely differs post to post, cross-check your target line item against the notification rather than assuming the general baseline covers you.

Age — Two Different Reckoning Dates to Watch

As on 1 July 2026, the general age band runs 18 to 42. But Junior Assistant posts at the Tourism Development Board, Information & Public Relations, the Advocate General’s office in Nainital, and the Judicial & Legal Academy — plus Store Keeper at the same Academy — carry a minimum age of 21, not 18. Missing this by a few months because you assumed the standard floor applied everywhere is an avoidable mistake.

Relaxation: 5 years for Uttarakhand SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer), 10 years for PwBD candidates, 5 years for freedom fighters’ dependents, and ex-servicemen relaxation per standard rules. State Andolankari candidates get a 10% horizontal reservation quota — that’s a seat-share provision, not an age cushion, so don’t confuse the two if you fall in that category.

Fee

Rs. 300 for Unreserved/OBC, Rs. 150 for SC/ST/EWS/PwBD, and nil for orphan candidates. Online payment only.

The Exam — Where a Careful Read Pays Off

One paper, 100 marks, 2 hours, objective type. But the 100 marks split unevenly across three areas within that single paper: General Knowledge of Uttarakhand carries the heaviest single weight at 40 marks, General Intelligence/Reasoning/History/Geography/Polity/Economics/Current Affairs/Computer Fundamentals together make up another 40, and General Hindi is worth just 20. A candidate who preps broad current affairs and reasoning but skips state-specific Uttarakhand GK is leaving 40% of the paper under-prepared — that’s the single biggest, most avoidable gap given how the syllabus is actually weighted here.

Negative marking takes a quarter mark per wrong answer. Qualifying cutoff is 45% for UR/EWS/OBC, 35% for SC/ST. After the written exam, there’s a typing test — qualifying only, doesn’t add to your merit score, just confirms you can actually type at the speed you claimed. Final merit comes from the written exam alone. Ties break first on age (older ranks higher), then alphabetically.

Reservation — Vertical and Horizontal, Stacked Separately

Vertical Category Share
SC (Uttarakhand) 19%
ST (Uttarakhand) 4%
OBC (Uttarakhand) 14%
EWS 10%
Horizontal Category Share
Women 30%
Ex-Servicemen 5%
Freedom Fighter dependents 2%
PwBD 4%
Orphans 5%
Sportspersons 4%
State Andolankari 10%

EWS needs a certificate dated between 1 April 2026 and the application closing date, based on FY 2025-26 income. And here’s a point worth stating plainly: if you claim reservation under a category but don’t clear the unreserved cutoff, you don’t automatically get shifted into the open list — you’re evaluated within your claimed category only, unless separately declared eligible otherwise.

The Domicile Rule Buried in “Other Conditions”

If you’re applying from outside the jurisdiction UKPSC normally covers, you need one of three things: registration at a Uttarakhand Seva Yojan (employment) office by the application deadline, a valid Uttarakhand domicile/permanent resident certificate, or proof that you passed your qualifying exam from an institution recognized within Uttarakhand. Only one of these three is mandatory, not all — but candidates sometimes read this as needing every box checked and either over-document or wrongly assume they’re ineligible when they actually satisfy it through just the exam-institution route.

Also worth flagging: a male candidate with more than one living wife, or a woman who marries a man with a living wife, is barred from selection under this notification — an eligibility condition that appears in several Uttarakhand government recruitments and is easy to skip past in a long conditions list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. I want to apply under the State Tax Department — I don’t see any posts listed for it. What happened?
The notification currently lists State Tax, Rural Construction, and the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme with zero vacancies each, to be added once those departments submit their actual requisition. There’s nothing to apply for under these three right now.

Q2. My typing speed is around 30 WPM in Hindi — does that meet the “4000 KDPH” requirement?
KDPH (Key Depressions Per Hour) isn’t a direct WPM conversion, and the exact equivalence can vary by keystroke-counting method. Don’t assume your WPM figure clears it — check the specific conversion UKSSSC uses, or better, test your KDPH rate directly if the option is available to you.

Q3. I’m applying for a Junior Assistant post at the Tourism Development Board — is the age limit the same 18-42 as other Junior Assistant posts?
No. Junior Assistant posts at the Tourism Development Board, Information & Public Relations Department, the Advocate General’s office in Nainital, and the Judicial & Legal Academy all carry a minimum age of 21, not the general 18 floor.

Q4. I live outside Uttarakhand — can I still apply?
Yes, provided you meet one of three conditions: Uttarakhand Seva Yojan registration by the deadline, a Uttarakhand domicile certificate, or having passed your qualifying exam from a Uttarakhand-recognized institution. Only one is required, not all three.

Q5. Does the typing test score count toward my final merit rank?
No. The typing test is qualifying only — it confirms you meet the minimum required speed for your post. Final merit is based entirely on the written exam’s 100 marks.

Disclaimer: Vacancy figures (553 across 59 post-department combinations), dates, fee, age limits, exam pattern, and reservation percentages above are drawn from UKSSSC’s official Advertisement No. 80/2026 dated 31 August 2026. The written exam date (15 November 2026) is stated as tentative in the notification, and vacancy counts for three departments are pending.
