BOI Specialist Officer Recruitment 2026: 205 Posts, Apply Online

Bank of India (BOI) has announced a major recruitment drive for Specialist Officers 2026, offering 205 vacancies across Scale I, Scale II, Scale III and Scale IV in a wide range of specialised fields.

The recruitment, released under Project No. 2026-27/02, is aimed at professionals and graduates with qualifications and experience in areas such as Full-Stack Engineering, Digital Platforms, Data Engineering, Information Security, DevSecOps, Infrastructure Operations, Law, Civil Engineering, Fire Safety and Security.

Unlike a conventional banking recruitment focused mainly on general banking roles, this BOI vacancy provides opportunities for candidates from diverse technical and professional backgrounds to join a public sector bank in specialised officer positions.

According to the recruitment schedule provided, online applications are scheduled to open on 10 September 2026 and remain available until 25 September 2026, while the relevant date for determining age and qualification is 1 August 2026.

The vacancies are distributed across four management grades, with Manager posts accounting for the largest share, followed by Senior Manager, Officer and Chief Manager positions.

Candidates must carefully check the eligibility criteria for their particular stream because educational qualifications, professional certifications, age limits and required work experience vary considerably from one post to another.

The selection process is primarily based on an online examination and personal interview, although the Bank reserves the right to adopt an interview-only selection process for particular posts.

With opportunities ranging from entry-level Scale I specialist positions to senior Scale IV Chief Manager roles, the BOI Specialist Officer Recruitment 2026 can be a significant career opportunity for experienced IT professionals, engineers, legal professionals and other specialists looking to move into the public sector banking environment.

The relevant date for age and qualification is fixed as 01.08.2026, and candidates can apply for only one post.

Editorial note: This is a separate recruitment cycle (Project No. 2026-27/02) from the earlier BOI SO 2025-26 drive (115 posts, exam held January 2026). Candidates who appeared in the earlier cycle must apply afresh if eligible for this one.

BOI SO 2026 Preparation Strategy

  • Professional Knowledge carries 100 of 125 total online-exam marks — this single section decides most of your score, so devote the bulk of preparation time to your specific domain/stream syllabus and certifications listed for your target post
  • English Language is qualifying only (35%/30% cut-off) — a quick daily practice of grammar and comprehension is enough; don’t over-invest time here
  • For IT/Full-Stack/DevSecOps/Data streams: revise core CS fundamentals (DBMS, networking, OS) alongside the specific certification syllabus (CISA/CISM/CISSP, cloud, DevOps tools) relevant to your post
  • For Law Officer: focus on Banking Laws — SARFAESI Act, RBI Act, NI Act, DRT Act, Companies Act, and Contract Law
  • For Fire Officer & Security Officer: along with domain knowledge, keep basic computer literacy sharp since a computer certificate is a mandatory qualification requirement
  • For Civil Engineer: revise core B.Tech Civil subjects — structural design, construction management, estimation & costing, and building materials
  • Attempt only questions you are confident about — the 0.25-mark negative marking can meaningfully pull down an otherwise strong score

BOI Specialist Officer — Career Path & Job Profile

  • Selected candidates join the Specialised Segment/Stream of the Bank as per their applied post
  • IT/Digital streams (Full-Stack, DevSecOps, Data Engineering, Information Security, etc.) manage the Bank’s core banking systems, digital platforms, cybersecurity posture, API infrastructure and cloud operations
  • Law Officer handles loan documentation vetting, DRT/SARFAESI litigation, legal opinions and NPA recovery matters
  • Fire Officer oversees fire-safety compliance and emergency preparedness across Bank premises
  • Security Officer manages branch/office security protocols and risk mitigation
  • Civil Engineer handles infrastructure, construction and premises-related engineering work for the Bank
  • Career progression follows the Bank’s extant Promotion Policy, allowing eligible officers to move up in Scale alongside General Banking Officers
