Preparation Tips for DSSSB MTS Exam 2026

MTS is a 10th pass level exam, so the questions are basic – but 200 questions in 120 minutes means speed matters a lot. These simple tips will help you score high marks.

  1. Give equal time to all five subjects: Each subject is of 40 marks, so do not ignore any subject. Hindi and English together are 80 marks – almost 40% of the paper.
  2. Practise Maths with a timer: Learn short-cut methods for percentage, profit and loss, time and work, and time and distance. Solve 20-30 questions daily with a timer.
  3. Revise Reasoning daily: Analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations and number series come every year. Practise from previous year papers to learn the pattern.
  4. Read General Awareness daily: Revise Class 10 NCERT History, Geography, Civics and Science, and read current affairs of the last 6 months from a good source.
  5. Do not guess blindly: Every wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. If you are not sure about a question, it is better to leave it than to lose marks by guessing.
  6. Solve previous year papers and mock tests: DSSSB provides a mock test link on its website. Solve full mock tests in 2 hours to build speed and learn time management.
  7. Revise Hindi and English grammar: पर्यायवाची, विलोम, समास, संधि and मुहावरे in Hindi, and synonyms, antonyms, tenses and error correction in English, are asked every year.
  8. Aim above the qualifying marks: General and EWS candidates need 40% (80 marks), but the final merit goes much higher, so aim for 130+ marks to stay safe.

  • Ignoring Hindi and English: The two language subjects are 80 marks out of 200. Many candidates focus only on Maths and Reasoning and lose easy marks here.

  • Studying only one or two subjects: All five subjects carry equal 40 marks. A weak subject can pull your total below the qualifying marks.
  • Not checking the eligibility: Age and qualification are counted as on 11 December 2026. Check the Recruitment Rules of the department you are applying for before filling the form.
  • Forgetting the department preference: At the time of document verification (e-dossier), you must give your department and post preferences. If you miss this step, you will not be considered for nomination.
  • Trusting fake exam dates: The exam date has not been announced yet. Check the date only on dsssb.delhi.gov.in and do not trust random social media posts.
