FSL Haryana Recruitment 2026 in Simple Words

The Forensic Science Laboratory of Haryana has invited applications for 20 contract jobs in its DNA Division. The lab is at Madhuban, near Karnal, inside the Haryana Police Academy campus. There are four posts and five vacancies in each post: Senior Scientific Officer, Senior Scientific Assistant, Scientific Assistant and Lab Attendant.

This is not a regular government job. It is a contract job for one year, or until the lab finishes the existing pending DNA cases, whichever the notice says. The salary is a fixed amount (consolidated). There is no written exam and no online form. You have to fill a paper application form, attach your documents and send it by post or give it in person at the lab.

Three of the four posts need hands-on experience in forensic DNA casework, so this is a good chance for M.Sc. candidates who already work or have worked in a forensic lab. The Lab Attendant post needs only Class 10 pass, which makes it open to a much wider group of candidates.

What Does “Forensic DNA Casework Experience” Mean?

The notice asks for hands-on experience in forensic DNA casework, including STR profiling, capillary electrophoresis, mixture interpretation and statistical analysis. In simple words, this means you have worked on real police cases where DNA from samples was tested. Experience of only classroom study or only research without casework may not count.

  • STR profiling: Finding the short repeating DNA patterns that are different from person to person.
  • Capillary electrophoresis: A machine method that separates DNA pieces by size so that the DNA pattern can be read.
  • Mixture interpretation: Understanding a DNA sample that contains DNA from more than one person.
  • Statistical analysis: Calculating how strong the match between two DNA samples is.
  • State or Central Forensic Science Laboratory: Experience should be from a government forensic lab, as written in the notice.
  • Keep experience letters ready that clearly show your post, the lab name, your dates of work and the type of work you did.
