What Is WBJEE DCAP? (Simple Explanation)

DCAP means Decentralised Counselling Admission Process. After the main WBJEE counselling, many seats remain empty in colleges. WBJEEB fills these seats through DCAP, in phases and rounds, using an online portal.

  • Candidates register online, pay a ₹250 registration fee (one time, non-refundable) and fill their college and branch choices.
  • Each phase has two rounds. In Round 1 you choose, pay and report. In Round 2 the Board reallocates seats using your same frozen choices.
  • After the normal rounds, special vacancy rounds are held to fill the seats that are still empty. Round 3 and Round 4 of Phase 2 are of this type.
  • Admission is final only after you physically report to the college and complete verification.

What Does “Upgradation” Mean in Round 4?

  • If you already have a seat, you may get a better choice (higher in your list) when a seat becomes empty. That is called an upgrade.
  • The Board uses the choices you filled earlier. You cannot add new colleges in this round.
  • Your rank decides who gets the vacant seat first. A higher rank gets the seat before a lower rank.
  • If you receive more than one allocation, you must select and lock one option before the deadline.

Note: These points are taken from the Round 3 special vacancy rules and the DCAP-2026 document. Round 4 follows the same upgradation method as per the official website heading. Please read the official Round 4 notice on the portal for exact fee and reporting instructions for already admitted candidates.

  5. Click Download to save the provisional seat allotment letter as PDF.
  6. Take 2 printouts of the letter and keep a soft copy on your phone.

Your Result Can Be Any One of These — What To Do

  • New seat allotted: Pay the fee, report to the college and complete admission by 6 October 2026.
  • Upgraded seat (better choice): Follow the portal steps for the new seat and report to the new college on time. Check the portal notice for how your old seat is handled.
  • Same seat as before: If you are already admitted and no better seat came, follow the portal instruction. Do not cancel unless you want to leave the seat.
  • No seat in Round 4: Do not panic. More rounds may be held if seats stay empty. Keep checking the website and keep your documents ready.
  • Seat is not what you want: You can withdraw before the deadline. A withdrawn seat goes back to the pool for other candidates.

Seat Acceptance Fee & Registration Fee

Fee Amount and Rule

Important DCAP-2026 Rules You Should Know

  • One lock per round: Only one option can be selected and locked in a round.
  • Use it or lose it: If a choice is offered to you but you do not use it in time, it becomes unavailable to you for the rest of DCAP-2026.
  • Fee but no reporting: If you pay the seat acceptance fee but do not report to the college, you can be debarred immediately from the remaining DCAP process.
  • Two phases of no response: Ignoring real opportunities in two consecutive phases can lead to debarment from later phases.
  • No change in Round 2: You cannot change choices in Round 2 of a phase.
  • One replacement: A candidate with confirmed admission may replace it once, in the immediately next phase only.
  • Withdraw on time: To free your seat for others, confirm cancellation on the portal before the deadline.

These rules come from the official DCAP-2026 document summary. Please read the full document for exact wording.

Common Mistakes To Avoid

  • Going to the college on the last day at the last hour. Queues and time limits can cause problems.
  • Paying the fee but not going for physical verification.
  • Forgetting self-attested photocopies or the original category / domicile certificate.
  • Locking a seat you do not really want, and not withdrawing in time.
  • Not checking the portal for the exact deadline time of Round 4.
  • Trusting messages from agents or unofficial groups about “guaranteed seats”.

If You Did Not Get a Seat — Your Next Steps

  • Keep checking wbjeeb.co.in and wbjeeb.in. Reports say more special rounds may be held if seats remain empty.
  • Keep your login, documents and fee payment option ready so you can act quickly.
  • Remember there is no new choice filling in special rounds. The Board uses the choices you filled earlier.
  • Think about backup options: other state counselling, private university admission, or a different branch.
  • Do not pay money to anyone for a “management quota” seat without proper receipt from the college and written confirmation.

Choosing Between Seats — Simple Tips

  • Check the branch first: Computer-related and core branches have different job paths. Choose what fits your interest.
  • Check college facilities: lab, faculty, placement record, hostel and distance from home.
  • Count the total cost: college fee, hostel, books and travel for 4 years.
  • Check approval: The college and course should be approved by AICTE / the Council of Architecture / the Pharmacy Council as per the course.
  • Talk to seniors of the same college if you can. Do not decide only on one rank list.

Cut Off and Seat Numbers

  • A round-wise closing rank list was not found in the sources checked for Round 4.
  • Seat numbers and the number of allotted candidates for Round 4 were also not given in the reference sources.
  • Closing ranks usually depend on branch, college, category and number of vacant seats. Check the allotment data on the portal for your own case.
