- Paper-I: 50 questions, 100 marks — Teaching and Research Aptitude
- Paper-II: 100 questions, 200 marks — your chosen subject at Master’s level
- Total marks: 300, with 2 marks for each correct answer
- No negative marking, as per reports
- Exam mode: Offline OMR-based, in English and Hindi
- Subjects: 19 subjects, with exam in 8 centres in Chhattisgarh, as per reports
- Exam timing (as per reports): Paper-I 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM, Paper-II 2:00 PM to 4:15 PM (one source shows a different Paper-II timing, so the admit card is the final proof)
|
Qualifying Marks and Cut-off Rule
- As per the notification, candidates who appear in both papers are considered
- Only the top 6% of the appearing candidates who also secure the minimum aggregate marks will be declared qualified
- Minimum aggregate marks: 40% for General category candidates
- Minimum aggregate marks: 35% for SC, ST, OBC and other reserved categories as per the notification
- The percentage is on the total of Paper-I and Paper-II (300 marks), not on each paper separately, as per reports
- So even if you cross 40%, you also need to be within the top 6% of the subject list. The final cut-off will depend on how everyone performs
|
| Category |
Minimum Marks Needed (Out of 300) |
| General |
40% = 120 marks (minimum aggregate) |
| SC / ST / OBC / reserved categories |
35% = 105 marks (minimum aggregate) |
| Note: These are only the minimum aggregate marks. The real cut-off may be higher because only the top 6% of candidates are declared qualified. Please confirm the exact rule from the official notification. |
How to Calculate Your Expected Score
- Count the number of correct answers in Paper-I and in Paper-II after matching with the answer key
- Multiply the total correct answers by 2, because each correct answer gives 2 marks
- There is no negative marking, so wrong or blank answers give zero and nothing is deducted
- Add Paper-I and Paper-II marks to get your total out of 300
- Example: If you have 35 correct in Paper-I and 70 correct in Paper-II, your marks = (35 + 70) × 2 = 210 out of 300
- Compare your score with the minimum aggregate (120 for General, 105 for reserved categories) to see if you are in the safe zone
- Remember that the top 6% rule can push the final cut-off higher
|
Smart Tips Before You Raise an Objection
- Raise an objection only if you are sure that the key is wrong, because each question costs ₹50
- Use only standard books, NCERT, UGC or official sources as proof. Coaching notes may not be accepted
- Write your reason in simple and short sentences and mention page numbers of the proof
- Combine all proof for one question in a single PDF of small size
- Check that the question number and series in your objection are exactly the same as in the answer key
- Do not wait for the last day. The portal may become slow near the deadline of 26 October, 3:00 PM
- If a question has more than one possible answer or is wrong, the board may accept or drop it after checking, but the decision is final
|
What Happens After the Objection Window?
- The board will check all objections with the subject experts
- If your objection is correct, the answer key may be corrected and the fee may be handled as per board rules (check the official notice)
- A final answer key will be prepared and used to make the result
- The result will be released later on the official website with the list of qualified candidates
- Qualified candidates will get the CG SET eligibility certificate. You will need it for applying for Assistant Professor posts in Chhattisgarh, as per the rules
- Candidates must complete their degree within two years of the result declaration, if they were awaiting their final result (as per reports)
|
Eligibility Criteria (Quick Facts)
- Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the relevant subject
- Minimum 55% marks for General / OBC candidates and 50% marks for SC / ST / PwD and other reserved candidates (as per reports)
- Final-year Master’s students may also appear, as per the notification rules
- Please read the official notification for subject-wise and category-wise details
|
What Is CG SET and Why Is It Important?
- CG SET is a state-level eligibility test. It checks whether a candidate is suitable for the job of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges of Chhattisgarh
- It works like the UGC NET exam, but it is conducted by the state board for the state’s own colleges and universities
- Passing CG SET does not give a job by itself. It gives you eligibility, and you still have to apply for vacancies when colleges or the Public Service Commission announce them
- The test has two papers, so both general teaching ability and your subject knowledge are checked
- Many candidates also use CG SET as a backup if they are preparing for UGC NET, because the pattern is quite similar
|
Your 4-Day Plan Before 26 October (3:00 PM)
- Day 1 (22 Oct): Download the answer key PDF and match your answers for Paper-I and Paper-II. Mark doubtful questions
- Day 2 (23 Oct): Search standard books and official sources for the doubtful questions and collect page-wise proof
- Day 3 (24 Oct): Make the proof PDF, keep it small in size, and test your login on the objection portal
- Day 4 (25 Oct): Submit objections with fee and take the receipt. Do not wait for the last morning
- Last day (26 Oct): Use this day only as a backup. The window closes at 3:00 PM, not at midnight
- Keep your mobile number active because OTP or payment messages may come there
|
Paper-I Topics — A Quick Reminder for Checking Answers
- Teaching Aptitude: Teaching methods, learner characteristics, evaluation systems and classroom communication
- Research Aptitude: Research types, steps, ethics, thesis writing and sampling basics
- Reading Comprehension: Passage-based questions in English or Hindi
- Communication: Types, barriers, effective communication and mass media basics
- Mathematical and Logical Reasoning: Series, coding, syllogism and simple arithmetic
- Data Interpretation: Tables, charts and graphs
- ICT: Basic computer knowledge, internet, email and digital tools
- People, Development and Environment, and Higher Education System: Governance, policies and sustainable development
- These are the usual Paper-I areas as in the UGC style pattern. Please match them with the official syllabus if you need to quote any topic in your objection
|
Do’s and Don’ts After the Answer Key
- Do download the key only from the official website and save a copy
- Do calculate your score honestly and check which questions can change the result
- Do use proof from reliable sources and number your pages
- Do keep a screenshot of your objection receipt
- Don’t raise objections only because you do not remember the answer. A wrong objection costs money
- Don’t trust unofficial “final key” PDFs shared on social media
- Don’t give your password to any friend or agent to submit objections for you
- Don’t assume you have qualified just because your score is above 40%. The top 6% rule also applies
|
After CG SET — Career Options and Next Steps
- If you qualify, you will get the eligibility certificate. Keep a soft copy and a printed copy
- Watch for Assistant Professor vacancies in government colleges of Chhattisgarh through the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission and the Higher Education Department
- Private universities and colleges may also value a SET qualification, along with your Master’s degree and experience
- Think about preparing for UGC NET and JRF as well, because they are accepted all over India
- If you do not qualify this time, study your weak areas, practise previous papers and try again in the next session
- Many successful candidates qualified in their second or third attempt, so stay positive
|
Paper-II Answer Checking — Subject-wise Tips
- Arts and Humanities subjects: Check dates, names and definitions in standard textbooks and university syllabus books
- Science and Mathematics subjects: Re-solve numerical questions step by step and check units and options carefully
- Commerce and Management: Use standard textbooks and the latest rules, because some laws and standards change over time
- Language papers (Hindi and English): Use standard grammar books, dictionaries and literature texts for proof
- If two options look correct, read the question again for words like “most appropriate” or “except”
- Avoid objecting on questions where you only feel the answer may be different. Keep your list short and strong
|
Common Problems and Easy Solutions
- Answer key not opening: Many candidates visit at the same time. Try early morning or late night
- Cannot find my subject: Check the Paper-II list carefully. If your subject is not shown, wait for the board to upload it and check again
- Login failed on objection portal: Use the registered mobile number and the password you made during application. Try “forgot password”
- Payment failed: Do not pay again immediately. Wait some time, check your bank SMS, and try again after confirming the status
- File too big for upload: Compress your PDF using a free tool and upload again
- Series mismatch: Make sure you use the key for the same question booklet series as your OMR sheet
- Missed the deadline: The board does not normally accept objections after 26 October, 3:00 PM
|
Preparation Tips for Candidates Who Plan to Appear Again
- Analyse your Paper-I score first. It is the same for all subjects, so strong Paper-I marks help every candidate
- Study the Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reasoning, Comprehension, Data Interpretation, ICT, Higher Education and Environment topics for Paper-I
- For Paper-II, study the full Master’s level syllabus of your subject and solve previous SET and NET papers
- Since there is no negative marking, practise attempting all questions
- Take timed tests: 50 questions in 1 hour and 100 questions in 2 hours
- Keep notes of mistakes and revise them weekly
|
Important Warnings
- Use only the official websites: vyapamcg.cgstate.gov.in and vyapamprofile.cgstate.gov.in
- Do not share your login password or OTP with anyone
- Beware of fake Telegram or WhatsApp groups that promise “sure qualification” or marks change for money
- Dates and rules can change. Please check the official website and notice before final action
