Exam Centre Rule Changed
In 2025, candidates could pick 3 exam centres anywhere in India. From 2026, you can only choose 3 centres within the same SSC region. Check your region carefully before filling centre preference — you cannot mix centres from different regions anymore.

- Gender Option: Transgender added as a third option alongside Male/Female in the application form

Physical Test Rule for Ex-Servicemen
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates are exempted from PET (running, jump, shot put etc.)
- ESM candidates must still clear PST (Physical Standard Test — height, chest measurement)
- ESM candidates must clear both Paper-I and Paper-II like every other candidate
How to Prepare for the New Pattern
- Do not underprepare Paper-I just because it’s “qualifying only” — you still need a good score to get shortlisted for Paper-II
- Give English Comprehension extra daily practice time — it alone is 200 out of 320 marks in Paper-II (62.5% weight)
- Practice Reasoning, GA and Quant at a slightly tougher level for Paper-II than what you prepare for Paper-I
- Since 0.50 negative marking applies in Paper-II, avoid guesswork — attempt only questions you’re confident about
- If you hold an NCC certificate, submit proof correctly — it can add up to 20 marks directly to your Paper-II score
- Choose your exam centre preference carefully — you can no longer pick centres from different SSC regions
