Note: Exact category-wise split (General/SC/ST/OBC/EWS, and women’s/co-ed break-up) for each subject is given in Table-01 of the official notification. Co-ed colleges have 1,564 posts (636 General, 347 SC, 22 ST, 421 OBC, 138 EWS) and women’s colleges have 372 posts (160 General, 92 SC, 2 ST, 95 OBC, 23 EWS). Candidates should check their subject and category carefully in the official PDF before applying.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Master’s Degree in the concerned/related subject with minimum 55% marks from a recognized Indian university, or equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university
  • Along with this, candidate must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent test like SLET/SET, OR must hold a Ph.D. degree as per UGC Regulations (2009/2016)
  • NET/SLET/SET is not needed if Ph.D. is obtained under proper conditions — regular mode Ph.D., external evaluation, open viva, published papers, etc.
  • Alternate route: Ph.D. from a foreign university/institute ranked in top 500 globally (as per QS, THE, or Shanghai Ranking)
  • For subjects like Drawing, Music Vocal, Music Instrumental (Sitar/Tabla): Graduate degree with 55% marks plus NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D., OR candidate can be a traditional/professional artist with strong achievements, trained under a known Ustad/artist, or an All India Radio/Doordarshan ‘A’ grade artist
  • 5% relaxation in qualifying marks (55% to 50%) for SC/ST/OBC(Non-Creamy Layer)/Divyang candidates
  • 5% relaxation also given to Ph.D. holders who got their degree before 19 September 1991
  • Some subjects have related/equivalent subjects also accepted for eligibility — check the notification for the full list

Age Limit

  • Application will not be accepted if date of birth is missing, or if candidate is above 62 years as on 1 July 2026
  • Only the date of birth mentioned in the High School certificate will be considered valid

Reservation Details

  • Vertical Reservation: SC, ST, OBC, EWS as per UP government rules

  • Divyang posts are marked for O.A./O.L./B/B.A./L.V./D./H.H./L.C./D.W./A.A.V. sub-categories
  • EWS reservation is as per UP Public Services (Economic Weaker Sections Reservation) Act, 2020 — 10% reservation in direct recruitment
  • Reservation benefit is only for candidates who are permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh
  • For women candidates, caste certificate must be from father’s side only, not husband’s side

Selection Process

  • Written Examination (360 Marks – 120 Objective Type Questions)
  • Interview (40 Marks)
  • Final Merit List will be prepared based on combined marks of written exam and interview
  • In case of a tie: written exam marks are checked first, then interview marks, then qualification percentage/PhD+JRF+NET combination, then higher age

  • OMR sheet must be filled only with a black ball point pen. Using eraser, blade, or whitener on OMR sheet will cancel that sheet

Important Instructions

  • Commission does not give personal advice on eligibility — candidates must read the notification carefully before applying

  • No daily allowance or travel allowance will be given for exam or interview
