What the Last Cycle Tells Us (Our Calculation)

  • About 2,568 applicants applied for every post in the last cycle (10,76,004 for 419 posts)
  • Only about 42 out of 100 applicants appeared in the prelims
  • The whole process took about 30 months, from the application start on 9 October 2023 to the final result on 5 April 2026. This included a cancelled exam

Note: The notice gives the date-of-birth range 2 July 1986 to 1 July 2005 for the General category. If you are on the edge, follow this range and the relaxation rules of your own category.

Who Can Apply? (Simple Eligibility Check)

  • I am a graduate from a recognised university (any stream for RO)
  • For ARO, I also have an ‘O’ Level or equivalent computer certificate
  • My age on 1 July 2026 is within the limit, or I have a valid age relaxation
  • I have the category or disability certificate in the prescribed format, if I need it
  • I can complete One Time Registration and pay the fee online before 26 November 2026
Note: If you can tick all these points, you can go ahead. If any point is missing, check the detailed notification first.

What Is One Time Registration (OTR)? (Simple Explanation)

Many commissions use a One Time Registration system. You create your profile only once on the commission website, and then you can use that profile to apply for different exams. In OTR you enter your basic details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, photograph and signature.

The short notice says that candidates should complete OTR if they have not done it already. Please enter your details exactly as written in your Class 10 certificate, because a small spelling mistake can cause trouble later.

How to Prepare: A Simple Guide (Our Suggestions, Not the Official Syllabus)

  • Read the syllabus first. The 2026 exam scheme and syllabus will be in the detailed notification
  • General Hindi and General Studies: Revise grammar, vocabulary and the basic topics of history, polity, geography, economy and science
  • Uttar Pradesh General Knowledge: Learn about the state’s districts, schemes, culture and current events
  • Reasoning and basic Maths: Practise a little every day. Speed and accuracy both matter
  • Current affairs: Read a good newspaper and make short notes for the last 6 to 12 months
  • Typing: If you plan to apply for ARO, practise Hindi typing every day, because a speed of 25 words per minute is reported
  • Mock tests: Give full-length mock tests and note your mistakes
  • Previous papers: Solve old RO/ARO papers to understand the question style

How to Apply for UPPSC RO ARO 2026 (Step by Step)

  • Visit the official website uppsc.up.nic.in
  • Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if you have not done it before
  • Click on the RO/ARO (General/Special Selection) Exam 2026 apply link, which opens from 26 October 2026
  • Fill in your personal, educational and category details
  • Choose the post or posts as the form allows

  • Pay the exam fee online by 26 November 2026
  • Submit the form and take a printout
  • If you need to correct anything, do it by 3 December 2026

Documents to Keep Ready (Our Suggestion)

The detailed notice will give the final list. Keep these ready so that you can apply quickly.

  • Class 10 certificate for date of birth and name
  • Graduation certificate and marksheets
  • ‘O’ Level certificate or equivalent computer certificate, if you apply for ARO
  • Category certificate (SC / ST / OBC / EWS), if you claim reservation, in the prescribed format
  • Domicile or residence certificate of Uttar Pradesh, if you need it for reservation benefits
  • Disability certificate, if you are applying under the Divyang quota
  • Recent photograph and signature images in the size given in the notice
  • A valid mobile number and email ID, because the commission sends updates there

Your 31-Day Plan to Apply and Prepare (Our Suggestion)

  • Day 1 to 2 (26 and 27 October): Download the detailed notification. Read Points 5, 8 and 9 (reservation, qualification, age relaxation). Do your OTR if it is not done
  • Day 3 to 7: Collect and scan all documents. Check that your name and date of birth are the same in all certificates
  • Day 8 to 12: Fill the application carefully. Do not wait for the last week, because the website may be slow
  • Day 13 onward: Pay the fee, take a printout and save the receipt
  • Daily: Start preparing. Revise basics of Hindi, General Studies, Reasoning, Maths and current affairs, as in earlier cycles
  • 26 November: Last date. Use it only as a safety day
  • 3 December: Last date for correction. Check your form once more

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Waiting for the last date and then facing a slow or crashed website
  • Applying without reading Point 8 (Educational Qualification) of the detailed notice
  • Forgetting the ‘O’ Level certificate for ARO
  • Believing the fee, vacancy or salary from social media before the detailed notice
  • Using an old or wrong-format category certificate
  • Not counting your age as on 1 July 2026
  • Believing agents who promise a job for money. Nobody can give you this
