IBPS SO Mains Admit Card 2026 — Latest Update (As on 22 October 2026)
|
| IBPS has released the Mains (Phase II) admit card for the IBPS Specialist Officer 2026 exam on 22 October 2026. The call letter link is active on ibps.in, and only those candidates who qualified in the Preliminary Examination can download it. The prelims result was declared a week earlier, on 15 October 2026.
The Mains exam will be held online on 1 November 2026. This means you have only 10 days left. The admit card will show your exam date, shift timing, reporting time and exam centre address, so please download it today, check every detail, and plan your travel.
Remember that this is a very important stage. As per the exam rules, the Mains marks are used to shortlist candidates for the interview and also for the final merit list. The Prelims is only a qualifying stage and its marks are not added to the final merit. So your Mains performance, especially in Professional Knowledge, decides your selection. |

Rajbhasha Adhikari: The pattern is similar, but the descriptive paper is on Professional Knowledge and is available in English and Hindi, as per reports. Negative marking: Reports mention a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in objective tests. Important: Some websites still show an older 85-question, 85-mark Mains pattern. The revised 2026 pattern shown above is reported by most sources, but please confirm the exact pattern and timing for your post in your admit card and in the official notification. |
Selection Process and Final Merit — Simple Explanation
- Stage 1 — Prelims: Qualifying only. Prelims marks are not added to the final merit
- Stage 2 — Mains: Marks are used for interview shortlisting and for the final merit
- Stage 3 — Interview: Common Interview conducted by participating banks with IBPS
- Final merit: As per reports, it is based on Mains Professional Knowledge marks and Interview marks in the ratio 80:20
- So Professional Knowledge (objective) is the most important part of the Mains, because only these marks are used for the final merit, as per reports
- The other sections (English, Reasoning, Quant / GA and Descriptive) may still have sectional qualifying criteria. Read the notification carefully
- Provisional allotment of banks is done by IBPS on merit, category and vacancy availability
|
Documents to Carry on 1 November 2026
- Printout of the Mains call letter with a clear photo
- One original valid photo ID proof as mentioned in the call letter (such as Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport or Driving Licence) and one photocopy
- The same ID that was used or mentioned during the application and prelims, if the call letter says so
- Any other document or declaration as mentioned in your call letter instructions
- Do not carry mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices or study material. Follow the centre’s security rules
- Read the entire instruction page of the admit card, because small details are given there
|
Exam Day Guidelines for the Online Mains
- Reach the centre early, at least 45–60 minutes before the reporting time. Gate closing time is strict
- Follow the instructions of the invigilator about login, system and rough sheets
- The test is sectional — each section has its own time. You cannot go back to a section after time is over, as per usual IBPS rules
- Start with the sections where you are strong. Do not waste time on one hard question
- For the Professional Knowledge section, attempt only the questions you are sure about, because 0.25 negative marking applies as per reports
- For the Descriptive paper, practise typing speed on a computer, because the answer is typed in an on-screen box
- Stay calm, drink water before entering, and avoid last-minute new topics
|
Last 10 Days Plan for IBPS SO Mains (By Post)
- For IT Officer: Revise DBMS, Networking, Operating Systems, Cyber Security, Software Engineering and C/C++/Java basics. Solve 50-question mocks in 40 minutes
- For Agricultural Field Officer: Revise Crop Science, Soil Science, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Agri-Finance, KCC and government schemes like PM-Kisan and PMFBY
- For Law Officer: Focus on banking laws, RBI Act, SARFAESI, DRT Act, NI Act, FEMA, Contract Act, Companies Act and Constitution
- For HR/Personnel Officer: Revise HRM concepts, labour laws, industrial relations, training, performance management and organisational behaviour
- For Rajbhasha Adhikari: Revise Hindi grammar, translation, Official Language Act and policy, and practise Hindi essays and translations
- For all posts: Take 1 full mock test every alternate day in exam timing (152 questions in about 155 minutes)
- English and Reasoning: Practise RC, cloze test, error spotting, puzzles and seating arrangements daily for 45 minutes
- Descriptive: Write 1 letter and 1 essay (200–250 words) every day. Check grammar, structure and time
|
Tips to Write the Descriptive Paper
- Start with a short introduction, a clear body and a simple ending
- Use simple words and short sentences. Do not try to use very difficult words
- For a letter, follow the correct format: sender, date (if needed), greeting, body, closing and name
- For an essay, choose a banking, finance, economy, technology or social topic and give points with examples
- Keep a quick plan of 3–4 points before you start typing
- Keep 3–4 minutes at the end to check spelling and punctuation
- Practise typing on a computer so that you can finish both questions within 30 minutes
|
What Is New in 2026? Prelims vs Mains Difference
- In 2026, IBPS revised the SO exam pattern. Professional Knowledge was added to the Prelims for the first time, as per reports
- Prelims had 100 questions for 125 marks in 80 minutes, and it was only a qualifying round
- The Mains is now a bigger exam of about 225 marks, with aptitude sections, Professional Knowledge and a descriptive paper, according to most reports
- Earlier, the Mains was mainly a Professional Knowledge test with fewer marks. So this year you need balanced preparation
- Even though the final merit uses Professional Knowledge marks, do not ignore English, Reasoning and Quant / GA, as they may have sectional cut-offs
- Read the official notification once to understand sectional and overall qualifying rules
|
Section-wise Time Management for Mains
- English (25 minutes): First do cloze test and error spotting (quick), then reading comprehension
- Reasoning (35 minutes): Solve the sure puzzles first. Leave long seating arrangements for the end if you are weak
- Quant / GA (20 minutes): Attempt Data Interpretation, number series and simplification first. For Law Officer, current banking awareness helps in GA
- Professional Knowledge (40–45 minutes): Aim for about 40 attempts with good accuracy rather than all 50 with many guesses
- Descriptive (30 minutes): Spend about 12 minutes on the letter and 15 minutes on the essay, and 3 minutes for checking
- Remember that each section is timed separately, so finish early if you can and use remaining time to check answers inside the same section
|
Professional Knowledge — Topics You Must Revise Again
- IT Officer: Data Structures, Algorithms, DBMS and SQL, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing and Banking IT
- Agricultural Field Officer: Agronomy, Soil and Water Management, Horticulture, Plant Protection, Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Fisheries, Agri-Marketing and Rural Credit
- Law Officer: Constitutional Law, Contract Act, Transfer of Property Act, Negotiable Instruments Act, Companies Act, Banking Regulation Act, SARFAESI, DRT, IBC and Evidence Act
- HR / Personnel Officer: HRM, HRD, Industrial Relations, Labour Laws, Compensation, Recruitment and Selection, Training and Performance Appraisal
- Rajbhasha Adhikari: Hindi Literature and Grammar, Translation, Official Language Policy, Rules and Banking Terminology in Hindi
- These lists are based on the standard IBPS SO syllabus. Please match them with the official syllabus in the notification
|
How to Use Mock Tests in the Last 10 Days
- Take full-length mocks in the same timing as the real exam, in the same sectional order
- After each mock, spend double the time on analysis: note silly mistakes, concept gaps and time-wasting questions
- Make a one-page “error list” for each section and revise it daily
- Take at least two mocks with the Descriptive paper typed on a computer
- Do not take more than one mock a day in the last three days. Rest is also part of preparation
- On the last day, do only light revision of formulas, short notes and important laws or concepts
|
What Happens After the Mains Exam?
- IBPS will release the Mains result on ibps.in, expected in November 2026
- Candidates who clear the cut-offs will get the interview call letter, expected in November–December 2026
- Bring original documents for verification at the interview stage: ID proof, educational certificates, category certificates and other documents mentioned in the call letter
- After the interview, IBPS will release the provisional allotment list, planned for January 2027
- You cannot choose a specific bank. Allotment is done on merit, category and vacancy availability
- Keep checking ibps.in and your email for every step
|
Common Problems While Downloading the Admit Card
- Link not opening / site slow: Many candidates log in together. Try early morning or late night
- Login error: Use the same registration number and password or date of birth as in your application. Use “Forgot Password” if needed
- Prelims admit card opens instead of Mains: Select the Phase II / Online Main Exam call letter link
- Not qualified in prelims: Only qualified candidates can download the Mains call letter. Check your prelims result again
- Wrong details: Contact IBPS through the official “Queries” link with proof
- PDF not opening or photo not clear: Use Chrome on a laptop, and print on good quality paper
|
