About CPCB & the SER-Phase-III Project
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) functions under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) as a statutory organization. This recruitment drive is for the “Strengthening of Environmental Regulators (SER)-Phase-III” Project, being executed by CPCB on River Ganga and funded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) under the Namami Gange Programme. Contract, Tenure & Nature of Job
- The engagement is purely on a contract basis, initially for 1 year
- It may be extended on a case-to-case basis depending on performance, up to the project’s requirement (up to 06.05.2028, or further if extended)
- Positions are co-terminus with the SER-Phase-III project — service will terminate automatically on expiry of the project or completion of the period mentioned in the offer of appointment, whichever is earlier
- Selected candidates will have no right to claim regularization or absorption into CPCB’s regular vacancies
- Posting may be at Regional Directorate Lucknow, Kolkata, Chandigarh, or CPCB Head Office Delhi — at the Board’s discretion
Selection Process
- Only candidates meeting the qualification and experience criteria will be called for interview/written test
- If the number of applications is very high, the Selection/Screening Committee has the discretion to shortlist candidates based on a written exam, percentage of marks, desirable qualification/experience, higher qualification, or any other criteria it deems fit
- Interviews will be conducted along with document verification — original mark sheets, degree, DOB certificate, experience certificate and self-attested photocopies, Aadhaar/photo ID, and one passport-size photo must be carried
- Interviews will be held in Delhi — no TA/DA or accommodation will be provided; outstation candidates should arrange their own stay

- Step 1 – Registration: Visit the official website www.cpcb.gov.in, go to the “Jobs” section and register using a valid email ID and active mobile number — both must be preserved until the entire process is complete
- Enter your name exactly as given in your degree certificate — this field cannot be edited after registration
- Select the post from the dropdown (as per your eligibility), select the Essential Qualification, and choose your Date of Birth from the calendar
- On completing registration you will receive a Registration Number — note it down, as it will be referred to in all future communication (Password = Date of Birth)
- Step 2 – Application Submission: Log in using your Registration Number and DOB, then fill in post selection, qualification & experience details
