Advertisement Reference Employment News, 10–16 October 2026 (CBC 10119/11/0001/2627)

Important Dates 2026

  • Online Application Start Date & Time: 06 October 2026, 11:00 Hrs
  • Online Application Last Date & Time: 21 October 2026, 17:30 Hrs
  • Validity Required for Uploaded Documents: At least up to 31 December 2027
  • Stage-I (CBE) — Both Batches: Early/Mid November 2026
  • Stage-II — Both Batches: End February 2027

  • Stage-III (INS Chilka) — CGEPT-02/27: Mid October 2027

  • Basic Training Commences — CGEPT-02/2027: November 2027 at INS Chilka

Analytical Note: Interestingly, Stage-I for BOTH batches (01/27 and 02/27) is scheduled around the same window (Nov 2026), and Stage-II is also conjoint. Only Stage-III and the eventual training start date diverge — CGEPT-01/27 candidates move to INS Chilka roughly 5 months earlier than CGEPT-02/27 candidates. Since candidates apply for a post, not a specific batch, where you land often depends on merit and vacancy availability rather than personal choice — plan your 2027 accordingly rather than assuming an early joining date.

Selection Process — 4 Stages

Qualifying all four stages is compulsory. Identity checks (including biometric and live-image matching) happen at every stage.

Stage-I: Computer Based Examination (CBE)

Component Details
Questions & Marks 100 Questions | 100 Marks
Mode & Language Objective MCQ, Bilingual (Hindi & English)
Duration 1 Hour
Negative Marking None
Category Passing Marks
UR/EWS/OBC 40
SC/ST 35

Note: If the exam runs in multiple shifts, scores will be normalised. Only Left Thumb biometric is captured at Stage-I (Right Thumb used only if Left is unavailable) — Mehndi/wax on fingers that prevents biometric capture means the candidate cannot appear.

Stage-II: Recruitment Centre Process (1-2 Days, Qualifying Only)

  • Basic Identity & Biometric Verification at the entrance
  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT): All 4 tests conducted continuously without break — any break means failure
  • Assessment & Adaptability Test: Online/OMR-based, qualifying only — marks NOT added to final merit
  • Document Verification: All application details must exactly match original documents
  • Recruitment Medical Examination: Fit/Unfit declaration; unfit candidates can appeal at a designated military hospital within 14 days
Gender 1.6 Km Run Squats Push-ups Sit-ups
Male 6 min 30 sec 20 15 15
Female 8 min 15 10 10

Final Merit List Logic

Important: Final merit is based ONLY on Stage-I marks plus qualification in all Stage-II phases, combined with available vacancies. The Assessment Test at Stage-II does NOT count toward merit — it’s used only to break ties. Tie-breaking order: (1) older candidate ranks higher, (2) higher Assessment Test score.

Stage-III: INS Chilka (1-2 Days)

  • Aadhaar-based Basic Identity Check (scrutinises any demographic changes made in the last 2 years)
  • Document Verification (any mismatch = cancellation)
  • Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination (appeal within 5 working days at designated hospital if declared unfit)
  • Submission of originals, Police Verification, and other forms

Stage-IV: Training Base

Verification/authentication of original educational and other documents with the concerned Boards/Universities/State authorities. A candidate will be terminated from service if any document is later found not genuine.

Medical & Physical Standards

Parameter Standard
Height (Male) 157 cm minimum (relaxation up to 5 cm for NE states/Garhwal/Kumaon/Sikkim/Gorkhas; up to 2 cm for Ladakh/Lakshadweep/A&N Islands)
Height (Female) 152 cm minimum (same relaxations applicable)
Chest (Male) Minimum 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion
Hearing Must hear a focused whisper from 6 m, each ear separately
Tattoo Not permitted, except inner forearm/dorsal hand (tribal community concessions apply)
Dental Healthy gums, minimum 14 dental points

Eyesight Standards — Branch-Wise

Branch Standard
General Duty 6/6 (Better eye), 6/9 (Worse eye) — glasses NOT allowed
Domestic Branch 6/36 (Better), 6/36 (Worse)
Technical (Yantrik) 6/24 (Better), 6/24 (Worse)
Hygienist 6/60 & 6/60 without glasses; 6/9 & 6/24 with glasses

Note: No waiver is given for medical standards under any circumstances — ICG’s own medical order is final.

How to Apply Online

  • Visit ssc.gov.in and register (remember your Email ID/Mobile — these are encrypted and non-recoverable if forgotten)
  • Fill in personal, educational and category details carefully
  • Upload all compulsory documents in specified format
  • Apply for ONE post only — multiple applications in a cycle mean only the latest is considered, and earlier fees are NOT refunded
  • Pay the examination fee (except SC/ST, who are exempted)
  • Use the Print Preview option to verify Name, DOB, Parent’s Name, marks/CGPA, document validity and category details before final submission
  • Use the 2-3 day Edit/Correction Window, when provided, to fix limited fields

Help Desk: For application queries, contact via the email listed on ssc.gov.in or phone 7620207872.

Documents Required at Application Stage

  • Recent passport-size colour photograph (not older than 3 months)
  • Live image captured during registration
  • Scanned signature
  • Date of Birth proof (Class 10th marksheet OR Birth Certificate)
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Voter ID/Driving Licence/Passport)
  • Service Certificate/NOC, if serving ICG personnel or civilian
  • Valid Domicile Certificate — mandatory for Navik (GD) male candidates (determines zone); others need it only if claiming medical standard relaxation (e.g., height)

Important: Only scanned originals accepted — NOT photocopies/self-attested copies at application stage. All documents must be in Hindi/English (or with an English translation). Multi-page documents must be merged into a single file before upload.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates discharged on disciplinary grounds from any Government service/training establishment are NOT eligible
  • Pending or past criminal proceedings/FIRs must be disclosed — concealment leads to cancellation at any stage
  • Mobile phones and electronic gadgets are banned during exams — possession leads to cancellation AND potential FIR
  • Date of Birth and Gender CANNOT be changed at any subsequent stage under any circumstances
  • Category details (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS) cannot be changed after submission — wrongly declared category candidates will NOT be permitted to appear as General
  • Persons with any kind of disability are NOT eligible to apply for ICG as an Armed Force post
  • Candidates will not be allowed to marry or keep family with them during the training period
  • No enquiry regarding this batch will be entertained after 31 December 2027

Common Mistakes Applicants Should Avoid

  • Applying for Yantrik without checking whether your specific diploma falls under the official equivalent-diploma list for Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics-Telecom branches
  • Submitting an application without a valid Domicile Certificate when applying for Navik (GD) male — this is mandatory for zone determination
  • Assuming glasses are acceptable for General Duty branch — they are explicitly disqualifying for this branch only
  • Applying with wax/mehndi on fingers near the Stage-I exam date, risking failed biometric capture and being barred from the exam
  • Not disclosing a pending FIR or past criminal proceeding — suppression leads to cancellation even after joining
  • Expecting Assessment Test (Stage-II) marks to improve final merit — they are used ONLY as a tie-breaker, never added to the main score
  • Waiting until the last date (21 October) to apply — heavy portal traffic near the deadline is common for SSC exams
