  • You get a monthly stipend, not a salary. There is no PF, ESI, bonus or other employee benefit.

  • You can take up to 4 days of leave together.
  • Unused leave can be carried forward, but it ends when your contract ends.
  • Other absence can lead to a proportionate cut in stipend.

  • No application fee is mentioned in the notification.
  • Registration and applying on the NATS portal are free of cost for students.
  • Do not pay money to any agent or middleman for getting an apprentice seat.

Selection Process 2026-27

  1. Register on NATS and complete your profile to 100%.
  2. Apply for the NICL opportunity and choose one state.
  3. BOPT (Eastern Region) makes a merit list based on your graduation percentage.
  4. Shortlisted candidates get an email from the registered email ID.
  5. Shortlisted candidates come for in-person document verification with original documents and self-attested copies.
  6. Final engagement depends on eligibility check, seat availability in your state and approval of the NATS apprenticeship contract.

Important Points

  • No written exam, no syllabus and no interview is mentioned in the notification.
  • Merit is based on the percentage of marks in your qualifying degree, up to two decimal places.
  • If your university gives CGPA, OGPA or GPA, convert it to percentage using your university’s official formula.
  • You must fill the percentage in the “% of marks / CGPA x 10” field. Applications without it are not considered.
  • If two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate gets preference.

How to Improve Your Chances of Getting Selected

  • Apply early. The window is only 14 days and the NATS portal can become slow near the last date.
  • Fill your percentage correctly. A wrong or blank percentage can cancel your application.
  • Choose your state with care. Look at the seats. Assam (30), Gujarat (22), Chhattisgarh (20) and Rajasthan (20) have more seats. Choose a state where you can actually stay for 12 months.
  • Match your details everywhere. Name, parents’ names, Aadhaar and education details must be the same in all records.
  • Keep your email and phone active. All updates will come on your registered email.
  • Keep documents ready in advance so that you can attend verification without delay.
  • Check that your status shows “Applied” after submitting.
