• No. This notification (CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28) is for Security Officers who look after the physical and organisational security of the bank. It is not for IT Security or Cyber Security posts.
• The posts are Manager (Security) and Deputy Manager (Security). Only ex-armed forces or para-military officers with the required rank can apply.
• IT Security does appear in this exam, but only as one topic (Topic 12) out of 15 topics in the Professional Knowledge syllabus.

• Upper age relaxation for reserved categories is given as per Government of India rules

Important Points

• Marks of Reasoning, English and General Awareness are only qualifying. They are not counted in merit, but you must score the minimum marks fixed by the Bank.
• Only Professional Knowledge marks are used for merit.
• Written test marks (Professional Knowledge) are converted to 70 marks and interview marks to 30 marks.
• If two candidates have the same marks at the cut-off, the older candidate is ranked higher.
• Qualifying marks for the interview are also decided by the Bank.

Qualifying Marks & Cut Off

• SBI has not announced any cut off for this notification yet. It will come only after the exam and the interview.
• There are no negative marks, so attempt all questions, especially in Professional Knowledge (100 marks).
• The Bank sets the minimum qualifying marks for Reasoning, English and General Awareness, and also for the interview.
• Because only Professional Knowledge counts for merit, a strong score in this part is what decides your final rank.

How to Apply Online for SBI Security Officer Recruitment 2026

1. Visit the SBI careers page: sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings
2. Find the advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28 (Security Officer) and read the full notice first.
3. Click Apply Online and register with a valid email ID and mobile number. Keep the email ID active until the result is declared.
4. Save the provisional registration number and password. You can use them to log in again and edit the form before final submission.
5. Upload your recent photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression and handwritten declaration. Capture a live photo by webcam or mobile when asked.
6. Fill in your personal, educational and service details carefully.
7. Upload each document separately in PDF format and preview it. You cannot change an upload after final submission.
8. Submit the form and pay the fee online (not needed for SC / ST).
9. Print and keep the system-generated application form and the e-receipt. Do not send hard copies to the SBI office.

Note: Keep original documents ready. If you are shortlisted, you must show originals and copies at the interview.

Important Instructions for Candidates

• Apply only once. Multiple applications are not allowed. Only the last valid completed application is kept, and the fee of the others is forfeited.
• Category cannot be changed after registration.
• No editing is allowed after you submit the form and pay the fee.
• If you work in a government department, PSU, nationalised bank or financial institution, you must bring a NOC at the interview.
• If any criminal case is pending against you, you must tell the Bank at the interview.
• Mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic devices are not allowed at the exam and interview. Iris scan and thumb impression may be taken.
• Exam centre change requests are not accepted, and SBI may allot a different centre. The notice lists tentative centres in Delhi-NCR, all state capitals and major cities.
• The Bank may transfer officers anywhere in India, and posting requests are generally not accepted.
• The Bank may cancel the recruitment at any stage. Legal disputes fall under the courts in Mumbai.

Interview Travel Allowance

• Outstation candidates called for interview get economy class air fare by the shortest route, up to ₹10,000 (to and fro) or the actual cost, whichever is lower.
• You must submit tickets and boarding pass to claim it.
• Local transport cost is not paid.

SBI Security Officer Job Profile — What Will You Do?

• Carry out security audits of bank branches and offices
• Organise security drills and lectures for staff
• Visit branches to check security arrangements, alarms, CCTV and guards
• Work with police and other government agencies on security matters
• Advise the bank on fire safety, disaster management and protection of people and cash
• Posting can be anywhere in India, and the bank may also depute officers to associate banks or other organisations

Preparation Tips for SBI Security Officer Exam 2026

• Start with Professional Knowledge. It carries 100 of the 200 marks and is the only part counted for merit. Make notes for each of the 15 topics.
• Use your own service experience. Topics like risk assessment, manpower management, fire safety, executive protection and disaster management are close to your field work, so revise them with bank-specific examples.
• Learn banking security basics: cash handling, strong rooms, alarm systems, CCTV rules, ATM security and guidelines on security in banks.
• Do not ignore the qualifying papers. Reasoning, English and General Awareness need minimum marks. Practise 30–40 minutes daily.
• Read banking news and current affairs every day for General Awareness.
• No negative marking: attempt every question, but use the time limit of each section wisely, because each test has its own timer.
• Take online mock tests to get used to the 200-question pattern.
• Prepare for the interview: revise your service record, security experience, and the role of a security officer in a bank. Keep documents ready.

Who Can Apply and Who Cannot Apply?

• Can apply: Graduate Army / Navy / Air Force officers with the required rank and years of service, and Para-military officers of Assistant Commandant or Deputy Commandant level or above, aged 25 to 40 years as on 31.10.2026 (relaxation as per rules), with SHAPE-1 medical category.
• Cannot apply: Fresh graduates, non-officer ranks, candidates without the needed years of service, and candidates who do not meet the medical standard.
• Serving officers must be ready to produce a NOC and the latest medical board documents.
