NPCIL Apprentice Selection Process 2026

  1. Local preference: Eligible candidates who live within 16 km of the Narora Atomic Power Station are considered first, as per the reservation rules. If there are not enough eligible local candidates in a category, candidates from outside are considered on merit. Local candidates must give proof of their permanent address.
  2. Merit list: The shortlist is made on the percentage of marks in the trade or discipline.
  3. Tie-break 1: If two candidates have the same percentage, the candidate who is older (born earlier) ranks higher.
  4. Tie-break 2: If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with the higher 10th percentage ranks higher.
  5. Document verification: Shortlisted candidates show their original documents, self-attested copies and the signed application form. The candidature is provisional until the certificates are verified.

The notice describes no written exam or interview. It only describes the merit shortlist and document verification.

If Your Marks Are in CGPA, GPA or Grades

If your institute gives CGPA, GPA, SGPA or letter grades, you must upload the conversion table issued by your institute. If your institute has no conversion formula, NPCIL uses the table below, which shows the CGPA that matches 55%, 60% and 65%.
CGPA / CPI Scale Equal to 55% / 60% / 65%
10 point 5.9 / 6.5 / 7.0
9 point 4.9 / 5.4 / 6.0
8 point 4.4 / 4.8 / 5.3
7 point 3.8 / 4.2 / 4.6
6 point 3.3 / 3.6 / 4.0
5 point 2.7 / 3.0 / 3.3
4 point 2.0 / 2.2 / 2.5
Example (for understanding only): A student on a 10-point scale with a CGPA of 6.5 is treated as having 60% when no institute formula is available. Your institute’s own formula, if it exists, comes first, so always attach it.

How to Apply for NPCIL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 (Step by Step)

The process has three parts: register on the right apprenticeship portal, apply to NPCIL on that portal with the correct establishment ID, and then fill the NPCIL online form.

  2. Make sure your Aadhaar is seeded with your bank account.
  3. On the same portal, apply to Narora Atomic Power Station, NPCIL, using the establishment ID given above. An application under the wrong ID will not be accepted.
  4. Then fill the online application on the NPCIL careers website between 10:00 hrs on 29.10.2026 and 16:00 hrs on 18.11.2026.
  5. Upload your colour photograph in JPG format, not more than 50 KB, between 240 × 180 and 640 × 480 pixels, with a light (preferably white) background. If you wear glasses, there should be no reflection and your eyes must be clearly visible.
  6. Upload your scanned signature in JPG format, not more than 20 KB, between 80 × 200 and 160 × 560 pixels.
  7. Use a personal email ID and mobile number that will stay active until the selection is over. Neither can be changed after registration.

20-Day Plan Before the Last Date

  1. Days 1–2 (today): Download the notification PDF, read it fully, and confirm your trade, age and qualification year. Check that you have not done any earlier apprenticeship.
  2. Days 3–5: Register on NAPS 2.0 or NATS 2.0 and finish your profile. Seed your Aadhaar with your bank account.
  3. Days 6–9: Scan all certificates and mark sheets. Prepare the photograph and signature in the exact size and format.
  4. Days 10–12: Apply to NPCIL on the portal with the correct establishment ID.
  5. Days 13–15: Fill and submit the NPCIL online form. Save the confirmation.
  6. Days 16–20: Keep a buffer for any problem, and start arranging the police verification certificate and the originals needed for document verification.

Simple Tips for NPCIL Apprentice Applicants

  • Use the right establishment ID. Trade uses E05200901473 on NAPS, and Diploma/Graduate uses NUPBUC093592 on NATS. A wrong ID means your application will not be accepted.
  • Your marks decide everything. There is no written exam described in the notice, so a correct percentage and clear mark sheets matter the most.
  • If you live near Narora, show it. Local candidates within 16 km are considered first, so keep your address proof ready.
  • Check the 5-year rule if you are applying as a diploma or graduate candidate.
  • Do not wait for the last day. The form closes at 4 PM, and portals can be slow near the end.
  • Remember the purpose. This is a one-year training. It is valuable experience, but it does not give you a right to an NPCIL job.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Registering on NATS when you are a Trade (ITI) candidate, or on NAPS when you are a Diploma or Graduate candidate.
  • Applying under the wrong establishment ID.
  • Uploading a photograph or signature that is bigger than the allowed size.
  • Using someone else’s email ID or mobile number, which cannot be changed later.
  • Forgetting the conversion table when marks are in CGPA or grades.
  • Hiding an earlier apprenticeship. This can lead to disqualification and a ban.
