What is This Admit Card For? (Simple Explanation)

Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra has released three advertisements (NT-01/2026 to NT-03/2026) for 60 regular non-teaching posts — Staff Nurse, Ayurvedic Pharmacist and Clerk. The admit card in this article is only for the Clerk post (NT-03/2026), and it is for the Phase 1 computer-based typing test, not a long written exam. This means that before anything else, a Clerk candidate must prove their English typing skill on a computer. The typing test is worth 15 marks, and the minimum typing speed needed is 30 net words per minute. Important: Each candidate’s admit card becomes available only 2 days before their own allotted exam date, so you may not see it right away if your date is later in the window.

Cannot Find or Open Your Admit Card? Try These Fixes

  • Check your exam date on the city intimation slip, and remember the admit card only appears 2 days before that date
  • Use only the official links given below — do not use any third-party website
  • Try again after some time, since the portal may be slow when many candidates download together
  • Clear your browser cache or try a different browser (Chrome or Firefox), preferably on a laptop or desktop
  • If the problem continues, contact SKAU through the details given on skau.ac.in well before the exam date

SKAU Clerk Typing Test Details

Feature Details
Test Mode Computer based
Language and Font English, Times New Roman
Test Duration 10 minutes
Minimum Typing Speed 30 net words per minute (NWPM)
Marks for Typing Test 15
Evaluation Done by software, based on both speed and accuracy

How Is Typing Speed Calculated? (Simple Formula)

SKAU has published a formula for net typing speed. One word is counted as 5 strokes (including spaces). Every error and every skipped word reduces your score by 5 strokes.

Step Formula
Gross Strokes Total typed strokes
Deduction (Number of errors + Number of skipped words) × 5
Net Strokes Gross strokes − Deduction
Net Speed (WPM) Net strokes ÷ (5 × Test duration in minutes)
Example from the official formula sheet: A candidate types 2,500 gross strokes, with 20 errors and 10 skipped words in a 10-minute test. Deduction = (20 + 10) × 5 = 150 strokes. Net strokes = 2,500 − 150 = 2,350. Net speed = 2,350 ÷ (5 × 10) = 47 words per minute, which is well above the 30 NWPM requirement.

How the Typing Test Works on the Computer (Step-by-Step)

  • Step 1: Open the typing test software on the desktop and check that the keyboard and mouse allotted to you are working properly
  • Step 2: Select the declaration confirming that you have checked the keyboard and mouse, then click Next
  • Step 3: On the login window, enter your Roll Number and Batch Number as printed on the admit card, and the Batch ID that will be told to you in the examination hall
  • Step 4: The typing window has two parts — the upper part shows the text to be typed, and the lower part is where you type
  • Step 5: Press the Space Bar to start the test — the text appears and the timer starts together
  • Step 6: When time is over, a time-up message appears and an evaluation sheet is generated

Typing Test Rules & Instructions

  • Check that Caps Lock and Num Lock are in the correct state before you start
  • Type in sync with the text highlighted in red in the upper half of the window. Typing out of sync is counted as an error, and a skipped or missed word is also an error
  • You can correct a mistake in a word with the Backspace key only before you press the Space Bar. Once you press Space after a word, that word cannot be corrected
  • Key combinations like Ctrl+F4, Alt+F4, Ctrl+Esc, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Alt+Tab, Alt+Space, Alt+Esc, the right-click key and the Windows key with a function key are not allowed
  • Using a prohibited key or tampering with the data or software can lead to cancellation of candidature and action under the Information Technology Act, 2000
  • Do not look at other candidates’ screens and do not talk to each other
  • Mobile phones, pagers and other communication devices are not allowed inside the exam centre

What to Carry on Typing Test Day

An official document checklist for the typing test is not clearly given in the public notices. As a general practice for recruitment exams, keep these ready:

  • Printed admit card
  • A valid original photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN Card, Driving Licence, etc.)
  • A passport-size photograph, if asked on the admit card

Always follow any extra instruction printed on your own admit card.

Last-Minute Typing Test Tips for SKAU Clerk Candidates

  • Accuracy matters as much as speed. Each error or skipped word costs 5 strokes, so a fast but sloppy test can fall below the 30 NWPM line. Aim for steady, clean typing
  • Practise on an online English typing tool in Times New Roman for 10 minutes a day, since the real test uses that font and a fixed 10-minute window
  • Get used to pressing Space after every word only when you are sure the word is correct — you cannot go back and fix a word after Space is pressed
  • Keep your eyes on the red-highlighted text in the upper window, so you do not lose your place and type out of sync
  • Avoid any restricted key combination out of habit (like Alt+Tab or the Windows key) — it can lead to cancellation of your candidature
  • Check Caps Lock and Num Lock before pressing the Space Bar to start
  • Note your Roll Number and Batch Number clearly from the admit card before entering the lab, since you need them to log in
  • Reach the exam centre early so you have time for the keyboard and mouse check before the test begins
