Last-Days Strategy for SSC CGL Tier 1

  • Take daily full mocks: Give one full 60-minute mock test every day in the last week and spend one hour to study your mistakes
  • Fix your section order: Many toppers start with the section they are strongest in, so that they collect safe marks early
  • Do not guess blindly: A wrong answer costs 0.50 mark. Attempt a question when you are at least 70 to 80 percent sure
  • Maths: Revise formulas, tables and squares. Practise simple calculation tricks for speed
  • Reasoning: Practise puzzles and series daily; this section gives quick marks if you stay calm
  • English: Revise vocabulary, common errors and one-word substitutions. Read one reading passage a day
  • General Awareness: Revise the last 6 months of current affairs and important static topics from short notes
  • Health: Sleep for 7 hours. Do not start any new big topic in the last 2 days

Common Mistakes to Avoid in SSC CGL Exam

  • Going to the wrong exam centre or wrong date because the admit card was not checked
  • Forgetting the original photo ID
  • Reaching late and losing entry
  • Spending too much time on one hard question
  • Marking too many guess answers and losing marks to negative marking
  • Believing fake answer keys or fake news on social media

What Comes After Tier 1?

  • Answer Key: SSC usually releases the answer key and response sheet after the exam. Check it on the official website
  • Tier 1 Result: Expected in November 2026
  • Tier 2 Exam: Expected in December 2026. Start Tier 2 preparation right after Tier 1 and focus on Maths, English and the topics for your chosen post
  • Admit Card for Tier 2: Released later on the same SSC login

Inside the Exam Hall – Simple Rules to Follow

  • Your seat and computer will be shown by the exam staff. Do not change the seat on your own
  • Log in to the system with the details given by the staff and read the instructions on the first screen slowly
  • Check that your name and photo on the screen are correct before you start
  • Use the question palette on the screen to move between questions and to see which ones you have marked for review
  • If the computer hangs or the mouse does not work, raise your hand and tell the invigilator at once. Do not wait
  • Your answers are saved as you go, but click the submit button properly at the end of the exam
  • Talking, looking at another screen or using rough sheets other than those given is not allowed

Smart Time Management for the 60-Minute Paper

  • Aim to spend about 15 minutes on each section, but do not follow this blindly. Give more time to your strongest section first
  • If a question takes more than 1 minute, mark it for review and move on
  • Keep the last 5 minutes to review the marked questions only
  • Do not change an answer in the last minute unless you are fully sure
  • Stay calm if the paper feels hard. The paper is hard for most candidates, and the cut-off also goes down in that case

Important Tips for Candidates Who Have Exam in the Last Week

  • Download the admit card as soon as it is available and do not wait for the last evening
  • Save a PDF copy in your phone and one in your e-mail, so that you can print it again if the paper is lost
  • Book your travel and stay early, especially if your centre is in another city
  • Tell your family or friends the exact centre address and your shift timing
  • Keep a small checklist: admit card, photo ID, pen for signing if asked, and water
  • Avoid new topics and stress. Light revision of short notes is enough
