Note: For the Hindi post, the asterisk means all qualified candidates were selected under the Wait List and the list cannot be extended, as stated in the official document.

How to Read the Cut Off Tables (Simple Explanation)

  • Regional office-wise: NABARD recruits for each state office separately, so you must look at the office you applied for. A high cut-off in one state does not apply to another
  • Category-wise: UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST each have their own cut-off, because vacancies are reserved by category
  • Dash (-): no vacancy in that category for that office
  • Asterisk (*): all qualified candidates were merit-listed, and the list cannot be extended
  • Select List: candidates in the main selection list. Wait List: a back-up list, used if selected candidates do not join
  • Section-wise cut-off: the minimum marks you needed in each section. Having a good total is not enough if you fall below a section cut-off

What the Numbers Tell Us (Our Calculation)

  • Highest Prelims UR cut-offs: Uttar Pradesh 89.75, New Delhi 89.25 and West Bengal 88.75. These are the most competitive offices
  • Lowest Prelims UR cut-off for a full list: Goa at 78.75. Ladakh (56.25*) and Andaman & Nicobar (60.50*) are even lower, but all qualified candidates were taken there
  • Highest Mains UR Select List cut-off: Goa 154.00, followed by Madhya Pradesh 152.00
  • Lowest Mains UR Select List cut-off: Ladakh 129.25, then Manipur 130.50 and Andaman & Nicobar 131.75
  • Gap between Select List and Wait List: very large in Goa (17.5 marks), but only 0.5 mark in Gujarat and 4 marks in Madhya Pradesh. This shows how close the competition was in some states
  • Section-wise cut-offs of the Prelims: UR candidates needed about 4 to 6 marks more in each section than reserved categories (for example 15.75 versus 11.50 in English)
Note: These points are our own reading of the tables above and may change if the official PDF has other data.

Selection Process and Pattern (As Reported)

Stage Details
Prelims Online test of English Language (40), Numerical Ability (30) and Reasoning (30), 100 marks in total. It is qualifying in nature
Mains Objective test (Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge) plus a descriptive English test of 50 marks. Final selection is on Mains marks
Language Proficiency Test (LPT) A qualifying test in the regional language for shortlisted candidates
Negative Marking One quarter (0.25) mark for each wrong answer, as reported
Note: The Prelims marks are not counted for final selection. The sources we checked do not state the total marks for the Mains cut-off. Please read the cut-off PDF and the notification for details.

Why Do Cut-Offs Differ From State to State? (Simple Explanation)

NABARD fills posts for each regional office. Each office has its own number of vacancies in each category, and a different number of candidates applied for it. When many good candidates compete for few posts, the cut-off goes up. When fewer candidates qualify, the cut-off can be low, and in some cases every qualified candidate is taken. That is why you see a star (*) in some rows.

So the same marks can be enough in one office and not enough in another. Always compare your marks only with the office and the category you applied for.

A Simple Example of Comparing Your Marks (Imaginary Numbers)

  • Imagine a UR candidate of the Karnataka office who scored 83 in the Prelims. The UR Prelims cut-off for Karnataka is 81.75. The candidate is above the cut-off by 1.25 marks
  • In the Mains, the same candidate scored 140.00. The Karnataka UR Select List cut-off is 141.00 and the Wait List cut-off is 138.75. So the candidate is below the Select List by 1.00 mark, but above the Wait List cut-off
  • The candidate must also check the section-wise cut-offs (for example 16.25 in Reasoning and 21.75 in Computer Knowledge for UR). A low score in one section can cause trouble even when the total is good
  • This example uses made-up marks only to show the method. It is not a real candidate’s score

About NABARD and the Development Assistant Post (General Information)

  • NABARD is India’s apex development bank for agriculture and rural development
  • Development Assistant is an entry-level clerical-grade post, and one site reports a starting pay of about ₹32,000 per month. Please check the official notification for the correct pay
  • The Development Assistant (Hindi) post is for candidates with Hindi language skills and has its own Prelims, Mains and cut-off
  • Candidates were selected for specific regional offices. The posting is usually in the same state or region as the office
Note: The pay and posting details are from a job portal and are not in the cut-off notice.

Quick Checklist for This Week

  • I have downloaded my score card before 31 October 2026

  • I know my regional office and my category
  • I have compared my Prelims and Mains marks with the cut-offs
  • I have checked my section-wise marks
  • I know whether my result belongs to the Select List or the Wait List

How to Use Your Score Card With the Cut Off (Step by Step)

  • Download your score card and note your Prelims marks, Mains marks and section-wise marks
  • Find the regional office and the category you applied for

  • Compare your total marks with the cut-off. Then compare your section marks with the section-wise cut-off
  • Check whether the cut-off belongs to the Select List or the Wait List

  • Practise English, numerical ability, reasoning, computer knowledge and general awareness every day
  • Take full-length mocks in the same pattern and check your section-wise marks
  • Follow the NABARD website for the next recruitment cycle. One site says that the next cycle is expected in late 2026, which is not official

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Forgetting to check the section-wise cut-off
  • Ignoring the asterisk and the dash in the tables
  • Waiting till the last day and missing the 31 October score card date
  • Believing cut-off numbers shared on social media without the PDF
  • Sharing your registration number and password on unknown websites
