With the admit card out on 23 October and the first exam on 27 October, the gap is only 4 days, and today (24 October) you have just 3 days left. The earlier plan of holding CBT-1 on 30 October was dropped, so the exam now runs over two days only, and each shift will be full.

How to Download the RRB JE Admit Card 2026

  1. Open the official website of the RRB region where you applied (the full list is given at the end of this page), or use the direct link in the links box
  2. Click the link for the Junior Engineer CBT-1 admit card under CEN 04/2026
  3. Enter your registration number and date of birth
  4. Submit the details to see your admit card
  5. Check every detail, download the PDF and take a clear printout on A4 paper

Always use the website of your own regional RRB. If you open another region’s page, the system will not find your registration number.

If the Admit Card Does Not Open

What Is Printed on Your Admit Card

Detail Why You Should Check It
Name and photograph Must be yours. A wrong photo can cause trouble at entry
Registration or roll number You will need it again in the exam hall
Category Must match your application
Exam date and shift Decide your travel plan from this
Exam centre name and address Check the full address and the route
Reporting time Reach before this time, because late entry is not allowed
Space for signature or thumb impression Sign only as instructed
Instructions Read all of them before the exam day

The city slip told you only the exam city. The admit card now gives the exact centre, date, shift and reporting time, so book your stay near the centre, and not just in the city, as soon as you read it.

Documents to Carry on the Exam Day

  • A clear printout of the RRB JE CBT-1 admit card
  • Your original Aadhaar card or a printout of the e-verified Aadhaar
  • A valid photo ID, as mentioned in the instructions on the admit card
  • A passport-size colour photograph, if the admit card asks you to paste one
  • Anything else that your admit card specially asks for

Candidates without the printed admit card and the required ID may face problems at entry, so put every document in one folder the day before.

Aadhaar Authentication — Do This Today

Aadhaar-based biometric authentication is part of the CBT-1 process. A problem here can stop you at the gate, so check these points today and not on the exam morning.

  • Your Aadhaar must be unlocked in the UIDAI system. Unlock biometrics through the UIDAI website or the mAadhaar app, using your Aadhaar or Virtual ID and an OTP on the mobile number linked with Aadhaar
  • If you have not completed Aadhaar verification, do it by logging in at rrbapply.gov.in
  • Your Aadhaar should have the correct name, date of birth (as per Class 10), latest photograph, updated biometrics and address
  • If your linked mobile number is old or your fingerprints have changed, visit an Aadhaar centre now, because it takes time

A small spelling difference between Aadhaar and your application can create a delay at the biometric check, so compare both documents once. A locked Aadhaar is the most common reason for a last-minute problem, and it takes only a few minutes to fix with the app.

Shift Timings and Reporting — What to Expect

Shift Usual Reporting Time Usual Exam Time
Shift 1 7:30 AM 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM
Shift 2 11:15 AM 12:45 PM to 2:15 PM
Shift 3 3:00 PM 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
  • These times follow the usual RRB pattern, and the exact time is printed on your admit card, so follow that
  • The gate usually closes about 30 minutes before the exam starts, and late entry is not allowed
  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices and other gadgets are not allowed, and there is frisking at the entry point

For a shift with 7:30 AM reporting, you must be at the gate with your documents ready, which means leaving the stay place by 6:30 AM or earlier in a big city. Do a trial trip to the centre on the day before if you can.

RRB JE CBT-1 Exam Pattern

Subject Questions Marks
Mathematics 30 30
General Intelligence and Reasoning 25 25
General Awareness 15 15
General Science 30 30
Total 100 100
Duration 90 minutes —
Marking +1 correct, −1/3 wrong —
Category Minimum Qualifying Percentage Marks Out of 100
General (UR) and EWS 40% 40
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and SC 30% 30
ST 25% 25

CBT-1 is a screening test. Candidates are shortlisted for CBT-2 in a 15:1 ratio against the vacancies, which is about 60,000 candidates for 4,029 posts. Reaching the minimum marks alone does not take you ahead, because the actual cut-off depends on how many candidates score above you.

You get 54 seconds per question (90 minutes for 100 questions). Mathematics and General Science together carry 60 of the 100 marks, so these two subjects decide most of your score. The syllabus is the same for all branches in CBT-1.

Smart Attempt Plan With Negative Marking

Each wrong answer takes away one third of a mark, so three wrong answers cancel one right answer. Use this simple plan:

Minutes What to Do
0 to 35 Mathematics and General Science. Solve the easy and medium questions first and skip the long ones
35 to 60 Reasoning (25 questions). Attempt the puzzles you can finish quickly
60 to 70 General Awareness (15 questions). Answer only what you know
70 to 85 Come back to the skipped questions in order of ease
85 to 90 Final check. Do not change an answer unless you are sure
Attempted Correct Wrong Net Marks
80 65 15 60.00
90 70 20 63.33
100 70 30 60.00

A blind guess on a four-option question gives no gain, and removing even one wrong option turns it into a small gain. So attempt a question when you can cut at least one option, and leave the rest. Note that 70 correct out of 90 attempted beats 70 correct out of 100 attempted, because there are fewer wrong answers.

Vacancy Snapshot — Who Is Competing

Department Vacancies Share
Civil (Engineering) 1,638 About 41%
Mechanical 1,125 About 28%
Electrical 600 About 15%
Stores (DMS) 324 About 8%
Signal & Telecommunication 307 About 8%
Chemical & Metallurgical (CMA) 35 About 1%
Total 4,029 100%

The original notification showed 3,993 vacancies, and Corrigendum-1 added 35 CMA posts and 1 JE (Electrical) post, which made the total 4,029. Civil and Mechanical together hold about 69% of the posts, and the biggest regional boards are Kolkata (457), Mumbai (411), Chennai (377), Prayagraj (341) and Guwahati (333).

Countdown Plan: 24 to 28 October

Date What to Do
24 October (today) Download and print the admit card. Check all details. Unlock Aadhaar and match the details. Book travel and stay if not done
25 October Take one full CBT-1 mock test of 100 questions in 90 minutes. Review wrong answers by subject
26 October Light revision of formulas, science facts and short notes. Pack documents in one folder. Travel to the exam city if your exam is early
27 October Exam day for the first group. Reach the centre well before reporting time
28 October Exam day for the second group. Same checklist

Do not start any new topic now. Use the last days to revise what you already know, keep your sleep regular and eat light food on the exam day.

Morning Timeline for a 9:00 AM Shift

Time What to Do
5:30 AM Wake up, take a light breakfast and check the folder with admit card, Aadhaar and photo ID
6:15 AM Leave the stay place, with extra time for traffic and the distance to the centre
7:30 AM Reach the centre, which is the usual reporting time for the first shift
7:30 to 8:30 AM Frisking, document check, Aadhaar biometric authentication and seating
8:30 to 9:00 AM Sit calmly, read the instructions and wait for the exam to start
9:00 AM CBT-1 starts. Follow the attempt plan given above

For later shifts, keep the same pattern: leave early, reach at the reporting time and keep half an hour for the entry checks. Eat a light meal two hours before the exam, and avoid trying new food on the exam day.

Last-Day Revision List for CBT-1 (Suggested)

Subject Quick Revision Topics
Mathematics (30) Percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, time and work, time speed and distance, simple and compound interest, mensuration, basic algebra and geometry, trigonometry basics
Reasoning (25) Analogy, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, syllogism, classification, ranking and simple puzzles
General Science (30) Class 10 level Physics (motion, force, electricity, light), Chemistry (acids, bases, metals, carbon compounds) and Biology (life processes, human body, diseases)
General Awareness (15) Current affairs of the last 6 months, sports, awards, books, basic polity and railway-related news

This list is a revision guide made from the subject names, and it is not an official syllabus. Revise short notes and formulas, and solve a few previous questions on the topics where you lose marks most often. Avoid reading long chapters now.

After CBT-1: What Comes Next

Candidates who clear CBT-1 are shortlisted for the second stage, CBT-2, in a 15:1 ratio. The final merit is made after CBT-2, followed by document verification and medical examination. CBT-2 has 150 questions for 150 marks in 120 minutes.

CBT-2 Part Questions
General Awareness 15
Physics and Chemistry 15
Basics of Computers and Applications 10
Basics of Environment and Pollution Control 10
Technical Abilities (your branch) 100
Total 150

In CBT-2 the technical section carries 100 of 150 marks, which is two thirds of the paper. So after CBT-1, your branch subject will matter far more than the general sections, and you should start it right after the exam and not wait for the result.

Exam Day Checklist

  • Admit card printout, Aadhaar (original or e-verified printout) and the photo ID in a folder
  • Reach the centre before the reporting time on the admit card
  • Do not carry a phone, smartwatch, Bluetooth device or any gadget
  • Sign or give a thumb impression on the admit card as instructed
  • Listen to the staff, finish the biometric check calmly and read the on-screen instructions in the first few minutes
  • If something on the computer is not working, raise your hand and tell the staff, and do not leave your seat

Travelling From Far? Plan This Carefully

  • Reach the exam city one day before, and stay near the centre address printed on the admit card, and not only near the railway station
  • Keep the printout in your bag, and keep a second copy and a phone copy as a backup
  • SC and ST candidates could download a Travel Authority from the city slip page, which they can use for the journey to the exam city
  • Check the return train or bus after the exam, and book it only after you know your shift time

Mistakes That Can Stop You at the Gate

  • Using the city intimation slip as an admit card
  • Opening the wrong regional RRB website and thinking the admit card is not released
  • Going to the centre with a locked Aadhaar
  • Reaching after the gate closing time
  • Carrying gadgets that are not allowed
  • Ignoring the reporting time and following a friend’s shift timing
  • Starting new topics in the last two days instead of revising
